I know at least one artist on Teddy Talk attended the Great Bear fair in the South of France earlier this year. I am humming and hah-ing about going myself but I have another fair at around the same time. If I am very organised I might manage to do both (ha!!) but would love to hear whether it was a good fair sales-wise and would the folks who went do it again.
It's a hard one because I have always said I won't do loads of fairs but this one appeals to me..and it would be a nice change from the stagnating fairs we get here in the UK lately. That's not to say that all are stagnating..that would be unfair..but many are in the doldrums as is the case pretty much everywhere I think. I just feel that a fresh approach in pastures new may yield dividends!!!
So if anyone has any thoughts on this fair I'd be interested to hear them!!
Hi Jenny I was there and i really had much fun to attend. Everything was perfect. Eric Petit, the owner had done a great job on advertisement and we had much people all the day. I was luckely to sold many bears. The event is held in the owner marvellous museum in Arpaillargues city.Next year, the fair will be on 1 april 2007 and i booked for it. Here's the web address:

I also attented with succes the Paris fair on june, even if i was told that there wasn't much people as usual. This one will held on 10 june 2007.
So, come on and join us Jenny because as it says, if you don't try, you will have nothing
Ok, now I'M interested in this fair......
Cost would be a major factor for me so I'd have to look into it!
My sister went to visit Eric at his museum in the summer ... she said it is beautiful! Eric is a very charming host and is completely passionate about developing the interest in artist bears in France. I think it would be a fun show and if you go with an open mind, as part of a holiday break, you'll have a lovely time. Apparently there are some very cheap flights available. Eric's English is easily understood, so I'm sure if you have anything you'd like to know about where to stay, flights etc etc, he'll be happy to help. I know the people from British Bears on the Net who took the plunge and went to the first show, enjoyed it very much. Some said it might have helped to know how to speak better French, but even so, plan to book again. I don't know if I will manage to get there, but I wish Eric well with his show ... it's great to have such a breath of fresh air blowing through the European bear world!
Me? ..I am not good at languages like most of us Brits...not that we couldn't be good...we just didn't get taught at school. I will try though and armed with phrase book and a willingness of nature and not too stiff an upper lip I'll have a go...
