Introducing 'Icicle', my latest cub! He is a special commission for a customer and she's collecting him at the show on Sunday ... I'm quite nervous! I really hope she likes him!!
'Icicle' is made from Interal's fabulous 1" dense pile alpaca in cream and he's 20" in height. He has special dark blue sparkly eyes to complement his shading. My customer specified her preference for the colouring and I'm really pleased with how it has come together. Wish me luck!
So glad you like him Ellen! I'm always nervous about commissions. By the way, you must try the alpaca ... it's a dream to work with. I swear you can't make a bad bear with it! (Maybe just a naughty one?!! :P)
One more bear to complete (this time another commission, for the same lady's husband!) then I'm done for the week. Next week I shall be back at my order book. Groan!!
Icicle is gorgeous Paula and I am sure the lady will love him-how could she fail not to
Laurie

Paula he is so beautiful....How could she not love him? Lovely colourings!!!
I love Icicle he is a beautiful bear,Paula. The blue shadings look great. What do you use for the shading. I have only got a black and brown pen for shading but would like to have a go at different colours..
Oh, wow, Paula! I'm sure your customer will love Icicle--I do!
There is something seriously wrong with your customer if she fails to fall in love with this bear. Absolutely stunning!!!!
Hugs
Gail
Paula, I think your collector will be absolutely thrilled with Icicle. He's beautiful! I want to reach through the computer screen and give him a big hug!!! You are right about that alpaca being great fur. My avitar panda is made from that alpaca in cream and black. SOOOOO cuddly! Your bear designs are so huggable anyway!
Oh now you've you done it!!!!!! I grew up in a time when "Happy Pants" were cool (yes I owned a pair) and that song was even cooler!!! Now, I'm going to be doing that Ice Ice Baby happy pants sad dance (where you jump up and down a few steps to the left, then the right LOL)
Ahhhhhhh to be an 80s child - sad!
Great bear - I love him!! I just don't love having that repetitive song stuck in my head LOL
Danni
I wondered if that might strike a cord with someone ... gotcha Danni!
Thank you everyone for your lovely comments - I really appreciate them!
Denise, to answer your question, I've used my airbrush with permanent artist inks for colouring to make the blue shades. I mix the colours until I get exactly the shades I want. If you like to use pens to shade with, Prisma markers are excellent and come in a wide variety of colours.
Thanks Paula, our local craft shop only had the brown prismas, do you think an office supply shop would have them? Or do you think if I got artists paint and sponged it on the bear it would work. A little on a sponge and wiping it nearly dry before I highlight the bear?
Keep watching this space the light globe is flashing in my head....
Fabulous.......as always Paula...your customer is going to be thrilled with Icicle....... love that Alpaca !!
Paula can I ask, did you buy your Prisma pens in the UK??
Hugs,
Yvonne.
Thanks girls! I bought my Prisma pens in the US because I couldn't find them over here. Sue Ann provided this link ...
http://www.carpediemstore.com/
Also, www.dickblick.com do them.
Yvonne, there is a company called 'Bear Basics' in the UK www.bearbasics.co.uk and I use the fabric markers they supply too. They have only a few colours available, but they are very useful if used with Prisma pens.
Oh wow Paula he is a darling. I would certainly part with my lunch money for tens years to have him  sigh....just to have the chance to give him a big cuddle...sigh.....
He's fabulous, Paula - wonderul colours and he looks so hugable!
Very happy that you both like him! I must admit, I'm very pleased with the colours on this bear.
Icicle is wonderful Paula and that alpaca is superb. I am sure your customer will adore him.
Now that stupid song is going round and round in my head......
