for a change, I decided to browse e-Bay pages to have a look at artist bears for sale and i cannot beieve what I found there!

A collector decided to part from an Oz Matilda bear right after she got him!!!

How can someone be disappointed with such a gorgeous bear???

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OZ-MATILDA-BEAR-C … dZViewItem

I wish I could afford him...

Someday I will buy a bear from Lisa, definitely!

First i need to save some money...

Beary hugs,
Sophie.

I saw this on there the other day - such a shame the collector has to sell him, but even more of a shame that I can't afford him!!!

Funnily enough I thought the same thing about the bear by Aleta that I just bought from a private collector - why on earth would they be willing to part with it??!!! Once I had received the bear I got an email from the lady saying 'if ever you sell the bear please let me have first refusal'.......I felt like emailing back saying 'not on your nelly - I'm NEVER letting this bear go'!!!!  bear_tongue

Such a shame that she has tp part with such a gorgeous bear is'nt it?
Maybe she has run out of space or her hubby has found out that she spent the housekeeping money on bears instead of bills and she's too scared to admit it on eBay.

I am sure the bear will sell like hot cakes, if only i had the cash i would be bidding on this one.

I love Oz matilda bears and this one os gorgeous too. It is also my ambition to buy one of Lisa's bears but I think if my husband knew how much they cost he would divorce me !!! LOL

Its so sad when you have to sell bears, I have sold some of my bear collection in the past but they were more manufactured bears rather than artist bears!!!

I think I'll go for a chloe Wilson bear first - might just be abale to afford one of hers!!!

LOL

Toby,

That's terrible,... so sorry. Maybe for swaps it would be a good idea to send a picture first for approval.EEEEEEEEE Thats so sad , I am so sorry you had to go through that bear_cry

Poor Toby................ bear_cry

now, don't get the wrong idea here as i think it was a bloody awful thing to happen to you Tobes but i am peeing myself with laughter at your description of the swap bear! It must have been one ugly bear!

Fancy the girl being so mean.......who was it? Go on give us a clue. I'm dying to know. Maybe we could all send her our reject bears from when we started out making bears - give a taste of her own medicine huh?

Sorry for laughing Toby

Oh, the poor lady - no wonder she has to sell them....it must be heartbreaking though! bear_cry

Toby, I had the same experience!!!! It was the very first bear I'd received in a swap and the very first artist bear I'd ever owned...I opened the box when it arrived and just said 'oh' - I then showed my 4 year old and asked if he liked it and he replied with 'I don't like it mummy - it's very ugly'. My neighbour says it looks like a sheep with a serious deformity!!!!

lol - Oh gem!!!!

You really are taking a risk when you do swap that you might get something you don't like. I have been sooo lucky with my swaps that I have loved them.
Maybe my partners were not so fortunate!!!

LOL

I guess  that is always the risk you take with swaps, but I'm sure it must be disappointing to get a bear that you simply can't stand....especially if you've put a lot of effort into the one you made yourself!!!

Well since this is a public message  board you can bet they will find out. Shame on you. That person may have put their heart and soul into that bear.

Do you have some sort of problem with my reply?

gotobedbears Posts: 3,177

UH OH here we go again  bear_rolleyes

Gemma - if you feel you got a pig-in-a-poke with your swap bear then you can say it love - the fact that you did'nt tell your swap partner only shows that you did'nt want to hurt her feelings - but if you now feel capable of telling the truth you should'nt feel bad about doing so.

Shirley - as you said this is a public forum and everyone is entitiled to their opinion - you have aired yours and Gemma has aired hers and with the best will in world love, it's not our place to tell Gemma what to say if she feels it's time for her to tell the truth about how she feels.

If Gemma's swap partner reads all these threads it is for her to respond to Gemma not anyone else don't you think?

No nit-picking allowed on TT folks............some of us old TeddyTimers have seen it all, taken part in it and have seen some great members leave because of it. We can all say what we like but c'mon girls, we all know where the line is drawn for common politeness and respect.

That's it........i'm off to have an extra large Tia Maria and Coke (no wonder i'm fat) before going to bed to make mad passionate love to George Clooney - i can dream can't i ????

Penny, just took a wee peek at your pic. You are not fat. But I must say... what on earth are you feeding your bears??  he's huge  or are your moonlings beaming something down? & is it legal? are customs aware of your moonlings activities? can I have some?

Every bear we make becomes an international representative of ourselves.
If and when we make a dud one for what ever reason, our impulsiveness is going to last a long long time and will be seen by a lot of people. ..............just a little something for the petty to keep in mind.

Oh, Toby, i am sorry to hear about that swap bear!!!

I just hope that if someone is paired with me and does not like my bears, she/he will tell me...
But getting an ugly bear for an artist from whom you just loved the bears is scary.

Fingers crossed such a bad thing won't happen to anyone on this board.

Back to the lady who sells her bears, I had no idea what was the reason. That must be horrible to part from such great bears.

Beary hugs,
Sophie.
