For artists and collectors sponsored by Intercal...your mohair supplier and Johnna's Mohair Store
Hi Everyone!
So good to be back... First I want tell everyone how much growth I've seen in the work here at TeddyTalk! (I confess to some 2 am visits to TT!) If I could I would adopt every little creature who appears here. You just keep getting better and better!
I've been busy opening my new yarn and fiber shop and haven't had a spare moment. Things are finally settling into place and I've managed to get back to bear making by hand stitching between customers and working on Birdie during late night hours when I should be sleeping! Honestly, I'm feeling quite a bit insecure about my bears and since I'd like to try offering them to buyers/collectors I'd truly appreciate some feedback from fellow bear artists.
I guess what I'm wondering is - would Birdie's style attract your attention? And what do you think mught be improved? Be honest - I can take it! Most of my work is done without anyone else seeing it so I'd really love to know what fresh eyes see. Do you think she might be more interesting with some distressing/ageing?
Here are her vital statistics: Birdie is hand stitched from Intercal's sparse distressed mohair and is 5 way jointed with cotter pins. Her little sweater and ear warmer is hand knit using super fine mohair/silk on 5xo needles. The skirt is handmade from Liberty of London cotton lawn and her ribbon is silk. Birdie stands 4-1/4 inches tall.
Hugs to all!
Lulu
P.S. I hope this post works.... this is my fourth attempt!
Oh Lulu, Birdie is just adorable - I am in LOVE!!! She would certainly grab my attention - IMMEDIATELY!!!! I think she is perfect just the way she is!!
Oh Lulu, Birdie is no good! You must send him to me right away!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then you must make more to send me.....
No really, great design, I can't think of a thing to change
Oh Lulu...I agree with Heather...you don't want Birdie out walking around unattended...you need to send her to me! Seriously, I think she's darling - just the right touch of anime and tradition Best of luck with your new ventures!

Lulu, I think Birdie is adorable. I would love to add him to my hug.
Lulu, you're spending too many late nights without sleep if you can't see how charming and sweet this little bear is. The anime-ish market is huge right now as far as I can see. I'm sure this one would be gobbled up quickly on eBay or in any other venue. Just lovely!
yes Lulu Birdie would be a hit I think. very cute and sweet. How can one resist her?
Oh, thanks everyone! You guys are the greatest. I feel much more confident about little Birdie now. I even took the plunge and listed her on eBay tonight. This is her link:

It will be interesting to see if she attracts any potential new mommies!
I'm so sorry for not being able to reply to your kind posts earlier but just after I posted little Birdie here my computer's hard drive decided to retire itself. I thought everything was certainly gone since no matter what trick I tried the hard drive couldn't be recognized. But, it has by some miracle been brought back and now I have everything safely backed up. Always remember to back-up your files... you never know what might happen...
So many beautiful new creations since I was last able to visit!... and, Dilu, your golly pair.... WOW! No wonder you'd been so quiet...
I haven't ssen uch of Shelli, Sue, or Aleta lately either. I wonder what they're going to surprise us with....
Thanks again, all.
Warm wishes,
LuLu
Oh dear, I wish I could adopt her !!! She is fantastic !
