Hello ladies and gents,
I had mentioned in my post to Millie, that I´m away to Germany.
Well, I was.
In fact twice since my last post.
I hadn´t thought, I´d not be posting here for so long though.
My last refuge is my boyfriend René near Bielefeld .
My mom has received a pace maker a few weeks ago and I had thought about renovating the basement and my bed room while she was in hospital, thinking, that such an operation would be a big one, which required at least 2 weeks hospitalization.
Well, 3 day after her operation mom came home, much to my surprise, she stumbled throught the mess I had started and over my dropping jaw.
( In fact: having a pace maker put in takes 2 hours, local anesthesia and some luck)
Now all of you, who were born during the baby boom of the sixties know how mom´s are: they tell you not to forget the shawl even when you´re 45, but don´t listen what the doctor tells THEM. So I was always one step behind my mom, so she wouldn´t make something stupid like carrying flowerpots down into the basement or cutting bushes and shrubs.
Interrupted only by some prettifying and timeconsuming visits to the dentist, days at work and visits to the vet.
In all the mess of an emptied bedroom and a living room that nearly burst from all the stuff that I had gracefully scattered there, my dad´s cousin from Canada and his sister from Hungary happily announced their visit for a few days…or more…
In all the time stumbling between pavement pizzas of my beloved dog Morschi and flowerpots that needed to be relocated, catching my pond fish to be save from winter and the yaddiyaddiyadda of my dad´s stister I felt like a snow flake in a snowstorm globe. ( without any teddy bear material in it)
Anyway: I came back from Germany last night, found Jane´s sweet email and somehow it looks as if things get more organized.
My mom, usually a fun person, still has her depressed moments since her operation- depression is one of the side effects of pace makers- but the doc said, that she will get used to the strange feeling and beating of it.
My bedroom is still not done, the basement looks done. My fish are in the aquarium now, most plants in the basement, my dog feels better now, my dad as well and my lovely René might be moving to Vienna next year.
Now I know, that many of you experienced much worse situations, and also I had much worse times, but I think, I´m getting old, juggling all this becomes more and more something I need to concentrate on.
I´m not complaining and I´m happy with how it is and I wish y´all, that your problems would be as easy to cope with as catching 12 goldfish in a wee pond.
While floating about in my snowstorm globe I had no time to meet friends or even call them and now that I did I found out, that my best friend Silvia had been tested positive with malignant breast cancer, which had been removed immediately and another friend, Doris, has been operated with malignant melanoma on her back 2 weeks ago.
Now, there are no roses anymore to stop and smell, but I found this snowstorm globe with the Viennese giant wheel that I post here, to remind me and you, not to forget your friends, even when the snowstorm wobbles you around.
Thanx for not having forgotten me
Gaby
