If you Northeners want kangaroos and wallabies and to see heaps of them in their natural setting then you should consider visiting Western Australia. We have everything thing the eastern states have and MORE.
Quokas on Rottnest Island which is only a short ferry ride from Perth. The idiots swim to Rottnest  every summer.
Wouldnt catch me doing it when the support vessels have to chase off sharks.  ..aarrgghh..
Then here in Rockingham we have Tamars on Garden Island. Hundreds of the wee buggas. They are a species of Wallabie. Then we have Penguins on ..you guest it..'Penguin Island". And there is a resident bull seal in residence in a cave on the island. Also just a short ferry ride from Rocky. Stupid people walk there at low tide and then when the tide turns , which it does rather quickly they need to be rescued.  bear_rolleyes  bear_grin
We also have quite a few pods of Dolphins. Which there are organised divings so you can swim with them.
Jo and I use to swim with them. We would paddle out with our boogy boards and wait. Sooner or later the dolphins would come by and check us out.  They are the most sleekest most awe inspiring creatures I have ever incounted. We did this three times aweek for four years and still my body tingles at the very thought of it.
And dont forget the lizard population in australia. They are fasinating wee critters as well. I two varieties in my own wee garden. Unfortunately they are not eating the snails fast enough. I think the snails might be eating them bear_grin  bear_grin  Do you guys have skinks in America/Europe???  The tiny skinny lizard that drops its tail in defense in order to escape danger. ????
I am now off to hunt qoka and tamara pics for you guys.

Dear Matilda, Sarah, Denise, Melissa and all my other Australian friends: I have to say you guys have such a wealth of wildlife in Australia....I loved it when I visited nine years ago. Such beauty....I didn’t see any kangaroos except on the side of the road (a victim of a car). Boy I had a great time and will never forget your lovely country.

Sarah: I’m glad  to find another raccoon lover. I think Ellen is another one who understand our love of racoons.

Bear Hugs to all of you

Michelle
