I'll be the first to admit I really don't like snow, but there is always something magical about the first snowfall of the season. I know many of you have had lots of snow already but not us.
This is the view from my house . It's 3:30 pm It has only been snowing for about an hour and it is very wet big flakes- It looks so pretty, but I just hope it is all gone in the morning
We had lovely weather in Norfolk today-a little bit breezy but the sky was clear blue without a cloud in the sky.It was lovely for walking the dogs.
Laurie
Sometimes, only sometimes I wish I lived where it snowed. It just seems so pretty while fresh.
lol...it's about time you guys got it Tammy!!! We have had it here on the West coast for a week now, I was beginning to think that we had switched weather....enjoy it and be careful!!! Off to call my mom now and make sure they are doing okay...
Hugs,
Krista
Oh man - let's swap, you can experience a HOT DRY aussie summer, where you eat cold ham, cold turkey cold everything - and I can experience a "traditional" Christmas. Oh, but you still have to cook the traditional lunch/dinner before you come here for us LOL
Oh enjoy it, and think of me, when I'm melting.......melting!!!!!!!
Danni
Tammy, it's really beautiful. I wish we got just a little snow. They get snow 15 miles up the road where the elevation is about 1000 feet higher. Did anyone see Hallmark channel's A Christmas Card? That was filmed in Nevada City, just 15 miles up the road. That was an example of last year's snow.
Ohh it's beautiful, my husband wants us all to move to Nova Stocia. This makes me want to even more aswell.
Oh Tammy its beautiful, but I can relate to the wish for it to melt promptly afterwards. We got snowfall on hubby's birthday, last Thursday, and have only just reached our road to get some supplies....they're calling for more on Wed!
Where was this stuff when I was a kid?!?
Here's some pics of our cardinals snarfing on cracked corn.
Beautiful snow pictures - oh for a white Christmas.
Hugs
Carolyn
OOOHHHH Debbie those Cardinals are just beautiful!
I have a pair that live in the trees around our house but we don't see them often, we can hear them though.
I would like to feed them but with two greedy outdoor cats I don't think it would be wise!
Thank you for posting your pictures,
AndreaM
Well everybody is getting snow except we Minnesotans! The poor weathe-rperson is trying to explain to a "snow hungry" audience about "clippers and missing us...." and so forth...Now we are suppose to be buried in snow by now and all I have is brown grass! Brown I tell you....really brown....So I have to settle on all you good folks to post lovely snow pictures so I can pine away at what should be outside my door....Very nice pictures everybody.
Oh Deb: I love your cardinals....
Michelle
Would love to at least try a white Christmas but the cold might scare me away...........but then in summer we just melt.........but having a pool to cool of in is great...........Have promised myself I will do a white christmas just have to pluck up the courage and rug up, it looks so beautiful, do you go out and play in the snow.........I know a dumb question
Take Care
Be Safe
Debbie
If you want to have a white Xmas in Australia try Oberon. We used to live in Dubbo and Dhs family lived there. We went from 40C in Dubbo heat to -something in Oberone (a 2.5 hour drive from where we lived)
We absolutely froze we had only packed tshirts for our over night stay.
The weather man said it was possibly going to snow.
It was madness
Oh wow Tammy. That looks brilliant. Your third pic is postcard perfect.
Debbie, what's a cardinal? any links handy?
Bronwen, I got caught out like that in NZ.
I'm glad you ladies down under enjoy the pictures. This unexpected snowfall created a mess with traffic last night. People were caught for 4 hours in a normal 30 minute drive home from work. No one is ever prepared for that first snow even though it does happen - they don't have their winter tires on and everyone forgets how to drive in it. It is funny how this happens EVERY year. I bet every snow shovel in the stores is gone this morning.
Now today we have icy roads and this is the part I hate . This is my driveway, it is a slippery messy heap of ice . The snow is o.k. but the rain that came first froze underneath and is scary to walk or drive on. So Chloe do you still want to move here now

Debbie D: Those pictures are gorgeous , I love birds! I have never seen a cardinal in person although some have been seen in the area. I think their red color is so beautiful. Here is a link to a cardinal picture for you Matilda.

Debbie: Yes we play in the snow. The kids are sooooo excited and stayed out for hours last night sliding in the snow. It was perfect sticky snow for making snowmen, but we didn't make one. If the temperature is close to 0C the snow is like that, but when it is really cold and snows it is more powdery and not sticky. The sticky stuff is heavy to shovel too !! I prefer to stay warm inside and look out the window
OH WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TALK ABOUT BREATHE TAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!
Not in my life did I ever imagine a bright red bird. They must be spectacular against the white of the snow.
Why do they not go to warmer climes in the winter? dumb question I suppose.
If only budgies were that colour.......................sigh.......................
Thanks for the Cardinal pic Tammy.
Tammy: It always amazes me how people forget to drive in the snow from March to the following December year after year. How is that?????
Debbie: I'm jealous of all those cardinals. We're far enough north here that they seem to be few and far between. I miss them. They are so pretty.
Thanks for the links Tammy  Usually they're nigh on impossible to photo. Normally they're exceedingly shy, only coming out to feed or be visible in the twilight or early dawn. But with the snowfall, they're sooooo hungry that they take the risks.
Luckily for us, we only have Mister, and being a black kitty cat, he stands out like a sore thumb to all the birds while he's stalking He can't figure out why they seem to know he's there! Go figure
Usually we only have one or two pairs, but hubby chucked out the cracked corn on the snow the first morning, and the word must've spread like wildfire amongst the cardinal community. I really wish I could get better photos as they are soooo incredibly gorgeous!
Tammy your driveway's a lot clearer than ours, but I fully appreciate the problems that the slushy, remelted snow brings.....ugh...and not to mention that underlying ice! Bleah! Makes me thankful I don't have anywhere that I need to go.
Oh you are all killing me...it is so hot here!!! I hate the heat. Wouldn't the snow be lovely. It looks so pretty
Oh Tammy it looks so pretty. It is so dry here, we have fires burning madly. Would love to trade places. I hate the heat too.
That picture of a cardianl was really pretty. And I have to say it's not the heat I hate its the humidity.
Sounds like us in July...hot, hot...nothing but heat and humidity. Keep looking at the snow pics, girls...it really does make you feel cooler And do be careful with those fires ~ scary stuffs!
the snow looks so pretty.
