Now that Ally Pally bear fair is no longer on the calendar what bear fairs (in England) do you recommend. I want to book for fairs that are well run and well attended. I can't afford to exhibit just for the promotional value.
Thanks Jane.
Hi Jane,
(sigh), I think the only really reliable English fair is Hugglets. Get your photos in to them and they might have a vacancy for February, or at least put you on the waiting list. I don't know about Scottish fairs?? Maybe some of our Scottish members can advise here.
The Spring NEC show isn't bad, but you are taking a bit of a punt on selling much - it depends whether Mary Shortle decides to have one of her grand doll sales on the day!! Again, you will have to send in photos to Miniatura, so at least there is some kind of quality control... don't know what else to suggest, really. It's a bit of a blow about Ally Pally, isn't it?
Hove might be an option for the future - I am doing my best to try and help restore that show's reputation.
Bear hugs,
Christine
I's also like to find out about fairs in the UK for next year. Has anyone ever traded at Southampton or Portsmouth?
Christine, I really hope you achieve it - Hove is my closest bear fair and I will be trading there next year. It's a lovely venue (very spacious and the parking opposite is a massive bonus), it's just a shame it was so quiet.
I would also like to find out about fairs for next year-has anyone been to the show at the hilton hotel in York in May.I am not sure if this is a new venue or not.I am like you Jane as if I do decide to exhibit I need to choose a venue that is well run and well attended. The distance I would have to travel is a factor too as we don't seem to have anything anywhere near us in Norfolk.
