doodlebears Celebration Ambassador

My daughter was so excited when she received an email yesterday. Sarah had, just one week ago, joined the Nigella Lawson website, Nigella Lawson is one of Britain's famous celebrity chefs.where she saw there was a prize draw to win a KitchenAid Artisan mixer, caviar black worth £349. 00...$682. The mixer had been given to Nigella so it is actually her mixer, which makes the prize even more special. Yes Sarah had won! She was jumping up and down with excitement, then added, 'How sad am I, people my age are usually out drinking and clubbing and here's me excited about a food mixer. Sarah does all of the cooking at home and is a great cook so the mixer will be well used. I joked she should put it on Ebay, I said she would get a good price for it.  bear_grin
Just thought I would share Sarah's news with you.

I love watching nigella when she cooks most of the ingredients are in my cupboard not like some cooks that do a receipe that you have never heard of the ingredients......Nigella rocks.....well done

What an AWESOME prize. How cool that this is Nigella's to begin with, I'm a fan of hers.  (I'm a total cooking nut...addicted to the tv food network, attending food shows for tips and tricks...even got a few cookbooks autographed now and then) I can understand her excited...it's not sad at all!!! When I was in my early 20s KitchenAid hit their 75th anniversary year and I was over the moon excited that I was going to have one of the limited edition (sparkly) mixers that came with a bowl with my name engraved on it!!    These mixers are powerhorses and the company will replace anything 100% if something ever fails.  They're very good about that.

Congrats to your daughter!!

How exciting for her!!!! I remember when I got my Kitchenaid mixer - I'd been wanting one forever but as you can tell they are very expensive. We were in a big warehouse store and they had marked one mixer down to 75% off because the colour was discontinued. I almost ran with it to the cash (and they are heavy!)  absolutely convinced someone would try to take it from me! I have had it 15 years and it is as good as the day I got it. If your daughter takes good care of it, it will last a lifetime - tell her congratulations and that drinking and clubbing will only give you a hangover...a kitchenaid gives you muffins!!

I remember joking to someone about how I spent my birthday, I took a trip to an old bookstore.  I've actually been asked to leave from the library multiple times now because they were closing... remember cheers where norm walks in and everyone yells "Norm!"  well its similar at my library with me.  The librarians don't even worry about my card at this point, I think they have it on speed dial punch up?

talk about living on the edge!!!!

There are far worse things than cooking as a hobbie.  For a cook I'm sure she's tickled pink for getting that mixer.  To me some of the alternatives  seem the much more bizzare, eyes glazed over watching sitcoms or consuming alcholic beverages until you make yourself ill.

I am no athority on blenders, but that looks like a mighty fine one to me.  Now give us some cookies, or at least let us lick the bowl!

That is wonderful Jane and no wonder Sarah is so happy - what a special prize to win.
Enjoy all the cookies and cakes she is going to make for the family.
I also enjoy watching all the cooking shows on TV - Nigella, Gordon, Jamie and last week we watched the new show of Anthony Bourdains
No reservations - he was in Paris and it was very interesting.

Congratulations Sarah!

Hugs

I like to watch the food network but I don't think I've ever seen Nigella. Does she have a show on food network?

Now that is a lovely surprise. You sound like you have a lovely girl and.....she cooks! We have got Amy a childs cook book for Christmas as I want her to start cooking meals as opposed to the cakes she does. Its nice to win something and its Nigella's too, very cool.
