How did we all go with our supposed day away from the computer, spent with our family exclusively bear_tongue  bear_whistle  bear_happy lol

So what did everyone get?  What food did you eat?  was the weather hot/cold, snowing?  My sister has the photos to send through for us, but would love to see some from everyone else  bear_original

We had a really good day here..I've already talked about pressies but seeing the kids faces light up is just priceless to me and better than any gift...just makes my heart sing  bear_innocent   Food..well, we planned our menu last week when it was 40C here...turns into a cool dayy  bear_wacko so..would've been better with a cozy warm dinner..but, we had prawns, cold chicken, spanish potato salad (covering one side of the family) and russian salad, from the other that I'm not really part of anymore, but the salad and a few other things (food things of course bear_rolleyes ) are keepers  bear_tongue ...then for dessert, pudding, pavlova (we call it pav-a-lo-vala just to be funny bear_happy )..and then...our big new thing!!!  egg nog!!  never had it for Christmas.  Patty assured me it would be fine to have it from the carton lol, so carton egg nog we did, yum  bear_grin

That was it...oh, Christmas cookies and white christmas, which I don't really like...

Boxing day today...the day of rest and leftovers  bear_laugh  bear_cool

A chess set which I had loved and wanted, earrings, jewekery and bear stuff.  What more could a girl want.
We had a very muggy day so the cold lunch went down, lots of laughter and mess and eating but it was great.  Today I read as a nap was out of the question!!

I love this time of year.

Santa guessed that I had been good.
I received a lovely necklace, earrings, glass bowl full of yummy things to eat, bottle of red, and free passes to see some movies.

We all ate well and the kids had lots of fun.
Today was a day of rest watching the t.v and napping.
We plan for weeks for this day and it is over so quickly.

Hope the day was good for everyone else..

Books: the hilarious "Knitting Rules" by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee (am already have through it LMAO), other needle work books, one of the latest patricia Cornwell crime novels, two of Terry Pratchett's disc world novels, Zits day-to-day calender, ipod cases (according to hubby they were on sale 'cause I have an old model bear_laugh ), German teddy magazines from my mother  bear_wub (can't get any in Sweden). Now you all know my weird and varied tastes. I am in a knitting phase. It always was my first love and now that its in fashion again yarn stores are popping up where there wer none for years and books are flooding the market. I thought I knew it all, but there are so many new and fascinating things to discover, that knitting is out-competing bears at the moment. Don't throw me out, I still make one now and then.  bear_tongue

Pressies: A gift certificate to pick out the Kitchen Aid stand up mixer I've been wanting for 3 years! A gift cert. to Edinburgh (I got online and spent that last night!), a light box for tracing/altering my bear patterns, a calendar, a couple of CDs, a fuzzy bath robe, oh and a James Herriott book on CD.

We had ham and roast beef, veggies and my neighbor and dear friend made the most delicious pecan rolls for our Christmas Dinner. They were simply to die for! Mom brought 3 desserts.... Grasshopper Pie, a yule log and a chiffon pie.

No snow on Christmas day here in New England but we did get ice and snow last night so it's white this morning! Better late than never.

Here's Mom and Dad and the model 50's Hudson Hornet convertible she gave him... it's EXACTLY like the one he had as a teenager! Ever since the Cars movie came out he's been talking about his old Hudson! She had this one made special for him.

Cute, looks like everyone had a nice day.

Christmas for me is 2 days, the 24th with my husbands family and the 25th with mine. Boy am I full! LOL

I got lots of stuff. I must've been very good.  I even got the nicest most expensive new pot and pan set, I'm soo excited. I also got a compressor for my  airbrush! I can't wait  to get my hands into that one.
Got lots of other fun stuff, and really enjoyed giving what I had picked out for everyone.

Boxing day for us here too, but I have to work  bear_cry  So no major sale for me today ( US friends, boxing day up in Canada is like black Friday for you)

I'll come back with pics once I get home

We had a lovely day.  Hubby and I spent the morning at home, and then went to my parents (only 10 minutes away) for christmas lunch.  It was lovely as my big brother and his fiance were there and my younger brother is home from university for christmas, so it was nice to be all together again.
I got some lovely presents.  I got a ThreadTeds bear which I chose at Hugglets in September.  I got lots of things for my dollshouses, some CDs, some books, socks, a cherished teddy figurine, a beautiful book full of Shirley Hughes stories (my favourites from my childhood) and lots of sweeties and chocolates!!
I also checked into Teddy Talk yesterday evening!!  My hubby laughed and said 'surely no one is on Teddy Talk now!'.  He was wrong!!!!
Hope you all had a peaceful day wherever you were.

Hover-3.jpgHover-2.jpgHover-1.jpgFor the first time in several years, we did not have Christmas at our house.  We left home at 4 a.m. Christmas morning to drive 3 hours to be with daughter and family.  At 6:50 a.m. we were unloading packages for under the tree and did it without waking the kids.  Were they surprised to see grandma and grandpa that early on Christmas Day.

Santa brought an inflatable hover disc whick provided entertainment for all the "kids".

And of course Max the family pet had to get in on the madness!!!

My biggest suprise this Christmas was a pair of diamond earrings from my hubbie,  I was totally shocked!  Other than my engagement ring, he has never bought me jewerly.  I had no idea and I really love the style  he picked out.  He also  gave me some very thoughtful bear "tools"  and the ever wonderful "mohair money" (thats burning a hole in my pocket) lol.  I  think what meant the most to me though, was the thoughtfulness he put into my gifts this year,  he hates shopping and really shopped around for me this year and the fact that he would do that for me  is probably the best Christmas gift  a girl could get.

Renae that's wonderful...sounds like the best Christmas gift ever!!!

Seems like everyone had lovely a Christmas, full of fun, family and good cheer...We had a lovely day. With lots of fun and laughter, the best thing was that my dad actually seemed to enjoy himself and as it's the first Christmas since mum passed away that was worth a million dollars!!  bear_grin

Renae, How wonderful for you AND your daughter! My Christmas was hectic. Since I did Thanksgiving at my house, this year my brother did Christmas at his house. Yeah! But so many kids! lol. I got a wonderful surprise for Christmas. My digital camera is a 3.2 megapixel Fujifilm and I liked it ok, but I had asked if maybe Santa could find a 5 or 6 megapixel camera. (I secretly hoped for a Canon Digital Rebel xti, but knew that wasn't happening at close to $1000) My fiance' told me what order I could open presents and I loved everything he gave me. But the last present blew me away... a 10.1 megapixel Canon Digital Rebel xti plus lens and 1GB card! I never even mentioned this camera to him! I LOVE it!
Now I have to learn to USE it! What fun! Anyone have one of these? It is kind of intimidating.

Hi Sonya, hubby bought me the same camera, a 10.1 megapixel Canon Digital Rebel xti plus lens and 1GB card,
I'm like you, now I have to learn how to use the thing! LOL
I have heard they take wonderful pictures!!!!
Then he surprised me with a smaller box, I opened it and there was nothing in it????? I said "well there is nothing in this box" he then took a small box out of his pocket.  Inside was a beautiful diamond necklace, one of those circle of love necklaces. I was so shocked!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a sweety I have! He didnt trust me so he had wrapped a empty box. hahahahahahaha He must think I'm a snoop! LOL
Spent xmas day with the inlaws and had a great dinner!

Sonya, what a great gift! A 10.1 megapixal camara!!! I didn't even know they went that high! YOu are going to have so much fun using it.

In my eternal quest to keep me warm (despite living in California) my husband gave me a down blanket that you can zip and snap on and walk around in. I am in heaven! He also gave me a day at the spa for two so my sister will have one great day.

Aside from that, I got some candles, frames, bath stuff. All fun things for me to use.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Sonya, I believe Deborah Burnham has a Canon Rebel.  It may not be as high as 10 mpixels, as she has had it for a year or so.  I think it's an 8 mpixels.  I know there is a high learning curve - if I talk to her soon, I'll point out this post.  She may have some pointers for you.

                                             hugs,

Wow you all had some lovely presents for christmas, but I wouldn't swap mine for the world.
I drew back the loungeroom curtains in the morning and there right in front was a great big rainbow.
As you may know I have been nervous about the bushfires in the area.  Well I had asked for rain for christmas, but I didn't think it would come with a bow on top  bear_grin
I just picked up my present from hubby today, two little finches.  I have yet to name them, but they are so cute.
I will take a photo tomorrow and maybe you all can help me  bear_grin

Christmas day was great fun here. My husband bought me an eternity ring, it's beautiful, also some very nice clothing with a lot of help from my daughter Sarah. I had a great photo album and it was full of photographs of my visit to Monkey World, you all know how I love Chimps and Orangutans! I had so many gifts from people, I feel so blessed by the kindness of everyone. Oh yes, I was given some yummy mohair and a huge bag of felting wool....guess what I'm going to make.  bear_grin
Christmas day dinner was amazing, Sarah cooked it for everyone. We had roast potatoes, boiled potatoes, baby cauliflowers, broccoli, brussel sprouts, carrots parsnips roasted after being dressed in a maple syrup and soy sauce dressing and then rolled in sesame seeds, yorkshire puddings, three kinds of stuffing balls, sausages wrapped in bacon , turkey and the most mouth watering gravy. Yummmmmmy! There was so much but boy was it good. Today Philip's (my husband) sister and husband are coming for the day and tomorrow my daughter Eve and Lozz are coming, bringing their dog freddy with them, so that will be fun with the three dogs together.  bear_grin

Hugs Jane.

I just got myself the same Canon Rebel last month, so it doesn't really count as a Christmas present. Its called 400D over here, but same thing. They are a bit over $1000 here in Europe, but I got a good deal. As I had a Canon system camera before I know my way around. The 10 Mpix are only good when its a system camera (you know, with mirror and you can change lenses). They do make compact cameras with 8-10 Mpix now, but those are actually often worse than those with fewer pixels. I love my Canon and I already had a number of lenses and other stuff from my old non-digital one. Try the serial function on something that moves, like an animal. Its fun to take lots of pictures in a row. I never did that with film because it could get expensive very quickly.

We had a great Christmas. Stu, I and the boys spent Christmas morning at home and opened presents from each other and from Stu's family. I got my gorgeous bear by Angie Tait from Stu which was on the HoHo Oh Bearz online show....I fell in love and asked if he'd like to buy her for me for Christmas! I got a beautiful jewellery stand which is a bust of a woman dressed in a long flowing skirt with a purple bodice. A silver and opal necklace from Stu's brother and a beautiful handmade glass bowl from his sister. We then went over to my parents just after midday (they only live 15 minutes drive away) to open even more presents!! I got 2 tops, a pair of trousers and make-up but the shock came when I opened when my 'main' present from my mum and dad....it was a Pipkins bear!!! I'm SO in love with my 2 new bears.....both very different from each other and both equally gorgeous....I feel very lucky!!
