A few of you lovely gals have asked if I would post a picture of Max to see how much he's grown. He's grown all right!! He's now taller than Walker!
For those of you new to the forum, Max is a kitten I adopted from Shantell. Actually, my whole family adopted all four of Shantell's kittens. Who could resist the story of their birth with Shantell trying to get pictures of them through the floor boards of the deck? We all held our breath as Skippy moved the kittens from place to place in the yard....even dropping one of them on their head in the driveway! It was endearing and funny and I just fell in love with Max at first sight.
Anyway....moving along now.....I also made a couple of comments about not buying bears this month due to vet bills. Gracie and Walker had their check-ups this month. Both kitties had extra tests run. Gracie has, over the course of the last few months, ballooned in shape to look like a football......but no weight gain. Doc took an x-ray and ran a blood test. Results: Gracie has exchanged muscle for fat.....probably brought on from eating the scrumptious calorie laden kitten food that Max was eating. So, she is now on a diet and will need more play sessions with the mouse on a string in order to get her sleek cat goddess figure back.
Walker's test came back fine too. Doc thinks that his upset tum is more about all the activity in the house this past month than anything being physically wrong. Basically, he's just a little stressed out. A bland diet of rice for a few days fixed him right up.
So, here is a picture of Max and another picture of Gracie, Max and Walker on their lovely oversized cat bed.
Warmest bear hugs,
Aleta
THANK YOU!!! He has grown into such a beautiful cat. You are so right. His face is JUST like Skippy's along with her attitude but he's definitely got Surrender's fur coat. His tail looks like it's a mile long!!! No wonder he knocks things over with it.
I just feel so blessed to have found such wonderful homes for those darling little kittens. As sad as I was to see them go and as much as I missed them those first few days (okay weeks) I knew they would be loved, well cared for and generally spoiled rotten.
Thanks so much for posting pictures. He certainly is gorgeous, my little sumo-wrestler.
Hugs to you,
How sweet you gave them a wonderful loving home! Bless you!
Aleta, it's soooo cool to see Max all grown up! You should have posted "before and after" pictures for all the new people. He was soooooo fluffy and cute as a wee boy, but now he's magnificent as a big boy. They are all spectacular - I wouldn't want to have to vacuum up all the kitty hair LOL! Thank you for posting them!
hugs,
Brenda
Beautiful Cats!
He really is a stunning looking cat - as are all your gorgeous kitties.
Danni
They are all lovely cats Aleta.Max is very handsome.I love his bushy tail.My 4 year old son thinks he is lovely and said can we get him out of the computer.
I have a blue point Birman that looks very similar to your cat on the right.
Laurie
What a pretty kitty!!! I love happy endings!
Just for you Brenda...a very early baby photo This was taken at about 3 weeks on a quick sneek them in while mamma is eating (more like gobbling). And getting kittens to sit still for a quick photo shoot...   Here's little Max...see why Aleta fell head over heals.
OMG!!! Shantell!! Thank you for posting Max's baby pictures. It's so funny to see him when he was that little. When he was a kitten his tail was soooooo short! ACK! Look at it now.....it is a mile long! Now I know where all the kitten food was going....straight to his tail.

He's certainly not a little sumo wrestler anymore either. He's sleek and muscular now. That's comes from the rough house play with Walker and Gracie. Poor Gracie.....always on the receiving end of Max's pounces. She let's you know it too. That girl just screams and spits at the boys.
Laurie,
You have a good eye. Walker is a Blue Point Birman. We lovingly call him Mr. Fancy Pants because of his breeding. Both of his parents are grand champions or some such high brow stuff. My husband took Walker in trade as a kitten from a couple that couldn't pay the balance of their gas installation. I think we both made out just fine.....each with something to keep us warm!
Biggest bear hugs,
Aleta
Adorable cats, you have Aleta and they look so comfortable sitting on the sofa.

Aleta, what beatufil pix and what smashers they all are!
I guess any cat would go nuts over Max  such a good looker! What a great place & family he chose for himself...
Looks like you really have a hand for anything alive ( thinking of your most beatiful garden and your cats).
Or even not alive ( thinking of your lovingly decorated home)

Is Gracie an Norwegian Forrest Cat ?
Oh they are soo cute. I love cat but do not have one at the moment. My Monthy had to be put down 24-12-05 and it was soo hard to have to do. But he had suffered from filine aids for many years. He was 9.
I miss him soo much.
Lena
Shantell, thanks so much for the baby pics - the kittens were all soooo cute.
Aleta, you know you only got Max because of your close proximity to him. I'd have fought for him, if I weren't in another country LOL! Are any of the orange ones fluffy like Max? Oh darn, I just want to see them all!
I don't know if you remember the two kittens my sister rescued last summer, after seeing them being thrown out of the moving car - she kept them both, even though they already had three cats. The pretty little girl, Sophie, (pictured above) died last week. She had tested positive for feline leukemia when they first took her to the vet, but they kept her anyway since all her other cats were vaccinated. The vet thought with enough care and la little luck, she might manage to survive, even if her life were shorter than average. Well, she didn't make it and my sister is heartbroken and Tinker, the other kitten is miserable. I just feel so badly for them, as they tried so hard to save her but at least she was really loved.
hugs,
Brenda
Oh such sweet pictures....
Lena: so sad about your beloved kitty. I hope you adopted another one to love.
this is my little Max that I got a copuple of months after Monthy left me. He just walked straight into my heart. I will get a cat later, it is a bit hard to have a cat at the moment.
Lena
Lena,
Your Max looks just as loving and wonderful as my Max!! I'm sorry to hear about your Monthy. I've not yet lost any of my kitties. 9 years with feline AIDS. That's a really long time!!
Brenda,
So sorry to hear about your sisters cat too. Her face reminds me of my Gracie. Just beautiful.
Gaby,
I think Gracie has some Norwegian Forest Cat in her somewhere in her lineage. She's really small though and was the runt of her litter.
Warmest bear hugs,
Aleta
Aleta, the second picture is just sooooo relaxing! I keep looking at it and it gives me a real cosy, comfy, don´t-wanna-go-away-but-stay-here-feeling. *yawn* Reminds me how tired I am ;)
Lena, poor Monthy! But at least he became 9 years old! But still: it is a big loss. He looks like he was a talkative cat, right? And Max, well, what can I say? No wonder he walked right into your heart!
Brenda, I ´m so sorry to read about this poor kitty! What a beautiful, dear face she has and this friendly expression- too bad that she was not lucky in fighting against this terrible disease.
God bless our pets!
Gaby
So so sorry to read about Sophie's passing She was such the sweetheart, and at least she had a quality life with your sister.
As for Monthy...wow! That's a really long time for a kitty with kitty AIDS I can see how well he was loved I know what you mean. After I lost my Irish Setter, it wasn't until spring last year that I felt able to take on another dog...only to lose him in three days. Not meant to be yet...
But Aleta my word, Max has grown, and isn't he the stunning cat now?! What a handsome fellow, and that tail!!! Miracle Grow.... ?
I have a soft spot for birs though. Some of the sweetest kitties on the face of the planet! Such warm lovebugs
LOL...I'll bet your little girl kitty screams and yells, though. Afterall, its hard to be a girlie, girl when you've got two brothers to fight against!
Thank you ladies for you kind words. Aleta,Debbie,Gaby and Michelle
Monthy was diagnosed when I had him desexed at a bout one year old. He had a really bad absess, not sure how to spell that one, and the vet had to put a drain in. And we think that he got scratced by a wild cat that had aids. But a had a wonderful vet that did every thing that she could for him. And I tried to feed the right thing. Not a lot of tin food, just natural stuff like meats and the like.
Max is my little friend that keeps me sane. He is very well behaved and tood only one month to house train. But boy does he likes his food and wants to eat every time that I sit down with some thing. So he is a bit over weight. I am trying to get him to loose some of it. Winter time it was better when I could walk him more. Now it is to hot to be out there.
Lena
It is so sad and hard when we loose our beloved animals and I know just how you are feeling Lena. I've been through it quite a few times with my dogs and it hurts like bloody hell each time! It does ease with time and if you have other animals at home that makes it a little easier to bear as well as you have them to hold and cuddle and to look after, so takes your mind of it a little. Yep, it is too hot to walk the dogs at the moment, took mine on the beach yesterday which they enjoyed but I think they found it a little too warm and crashed out on the back seat for the ride home. We thought it was a cool day that is why we took them to the beach but it seems the girls didn't think so
