Snow is in the forecast for Portland, Oregon and surrounding areas! This is what I get for posting about loving my green grass year round. I wonder if Mother Nature is going through a mid-life crisis and that's why the weather is so weird everywhere.
We'll definitely see snow up here at the 800ft.+ level. How about you, Shantell? Dilu? Renae? Kassie? Joan? I heard from Kim (Kallie214) that Seattle is supposed to get snow too.
Forecasters say that the Arctic air is coming out of Canada. Thanks a lot you guys. Ptttttt. :P
Warmest bear hugs,
Aleta
Hey, you're welcome Aleta!
We are under a blizzard warning right now with a huge dump of snow coming, 70 km/hr winds and temps plunging to
-30C in the next 2 days. The news said that it will be our worst weather in a long time
Sounds like bearmaking weather to me (and maybe a nice fire and a hot rum or lemondrop martini....well okay maybe not all together! )
Cheryl
Please pass the Grey Goose and the fresh squeezed lemon juice!! Oh, and the sugar too!!
Warmest bear hugs,
Aleta
Oooh, will tell my dad in law then as he was all set to fly out later this week to Portland. Although I seriously doubt a little snow will deter him
Definitely sounds like weather to be holed up, sipping a nice warming drink, and busy making bears
Aleta, are you getting ready to have a lemon drop or two?? *smiles* Yummy...count me in! I'll bring the lemons!!!
Hugs,
K
Aleta I'm tired of seeing my green grass please send the snow waaaaaaayyyy over to my house! I love the cold and the snow and so far we've only had rain
We had inches of rain yesterday and all I could think was "this could be 3 feet of snow instead"
Please send snow to me and the doggies...they LOVE it too
Last Year Snowfalls:

Ohhhh Noooo it's headed for NM again tooooooo....Hang on tight...everyone in the path of this storm!!!!
Hugs &
Yep, I've heard the rumors. I have to say, however, this little nest I call home seems to be in a warm spot in the valley and we rarely get much snow. It can be snowing in flurries and blizzards all around us...Eugene, Salem, Portland, Corvallis, the hills to the east...but right here...notta...annoying as hell.
I'll keep you posted if I actually see enough snow to stick for more than a few hours.
Now freezing rain...that's another story!!
Hugs,
Now off to post on my pet peeves...I've got one!!!
Not just Portland you two.....brrrr......the Siskiyou Forest is gonna get dumped on too, as well as the Kalmiopsis wilderness......
Yes indeedy-we're ready- The Hubs always brings in enough wood for two weeks of being snowed in and the worst it has ever been was 7 days.......but who like hauling wood in through all that muck and bother?
Last year it came up to my knees- which would be 23 inches.....
what a great excuse to snuggle up and do whatever you feel like
dilu
ergg, you lot!!!!! with your snow, !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!here it is just sun and more sun, how I would love to be in some snow !!!!!
Lynette
It turned out to be the Big Snow Storm that Didn't Happen!! Yay!!
Warmest bear hugs,
Aleta
P.S. Now watch.....we'll get a foot of snow overnight!
Same for us Aleta
We got about a trace at best, yet the schools had a 2 hour delay...go figure. I guess its the best of both worlds for us parents though...we get to sleep in like its a weekend, yet we still have some quiet work time *smiles*
Well, you west coast gals........glad to hear you didn't get dumped on with the snow! Or sorry to hear it....depends on if you really wanted it or not I guess! We have had only one measurable snow fall this year in Iowa.....just three inches over New Year's. However, there is supposed to be a big storm coming for this weekend, Sunday into Monday they are saying now. If it does hit, we will get dumped on big time, with high winds and blizzard conditions. Of course, there is a chance it will fizzle out by then too. It is supposed to finally get cold though. 20 degrees forecasted for the high tomorrow! Brrr!!!
It's been above normal temps the past 34 days straight.......very balmy for December and January in Iowa!
Don't mind the warmer temps, but have to say I'm tired of rain, rain, and more rain.......and muddy doggie feet!!
We didn't get "dumped" on but we (as in me) did get some snow. It would snow like crazy...blizzard  okay so I couldn't see across the pasture and cover the yard and then 30 minutes later it would be gone....then it would do it all over again...this went on all day. Kind of fun...never knew what it would look like when you looked outside...SURPRISE...green grass one minute...Winter Wonderland the next.
This morning we still have snow...and it's still snowing itsy bitsy teeny weeny microscopic snowflakes BUT hey it's SNOW. I can see it!!! It counts in my book...the ground is white and it's suppose to do this here in my little corner of the valley until noon...wooohoooooooo!!! The sun will then peek out and all will return to normal....RAIN!!!
Hugs,
Shantell
I woke up to snow this morning too!! It looks like Mother Nature dusted the valley with powdered sugar. It's pretty, but it's brrrrrrrrrrrzzzzeeee wrrrrrrrzzzzeeee out there.
Warmest bear hugs,

Unfortunately we didn't escape - serves me right!
Sure is cold though...-25C
BRRRRRRRRRR is right!
Cheryl
Wow! I just can't imagine temps like -25 and I've never lived where it snows. It sure looks pretty!
I'm in Ontario where we should have lots of snow and cold weather right now. Instead, the ground is bare! and the temps are above-normal. Unfortunately a lot of bulbs are starting to peek out so I expect there will be a lot of winter-kill come spring. As well, there are a lot of Winter Festivals that are scrambling for alternate venues but it is hard to find indoor sleding or skiing. This will be a big loss for those organizers. I can't remember ever having a winter like this and I've seen a LOT of winters.
Marion
Snow today at Newport! It rarely snows on the beach!! I came to work today in snow, what fun!! Now it's supposed to freeze.....I hope it dries up a little before freezing.
My dogs are loving it!!
Joan
Wow! I just can't imagine temps like -25 and I've never lived where it snows. It sure looks pretty!
I so hate to think of you being deprived Shelli! How about your family comes to stay here and we'll come to sunny California... Please.....
Its not so bad, just need to be careful thats all!
My hubby says after all that shovelling, the snow sort of loses its 'Christmas card' appeal.
MARION: I heard on the national news this morning that all of Canada is experiencing unusually warm weather
