Hi Everyone,
In Australia we have been experiencing some of the worse bushfires in history, in the state of Victoria over 2,500,000 acres have been burnt since 6th Dec...and are still burning..an immense tragedy to lose so much beautiful bushland, but worse than that is the loss of Australian wildlife...I can't bear to think of the poor creatures lost ..but thank God here are some that were saved..please take a look
Denise it is tragic that so many wild animals get lost in the fires or injured... nature is cruel sometimes...
Oh that is sooooooooo sad, I'm glad they could save some of them! They are so cute!!
Denise
that is SO awful - bush fires must be one of the most terrifying of all "natural disasters" (and worse, when they are deliberately started) The poor koalas, being so slow-moving are particularly vulnerable.
I lived in Perth for 8 years, when was a geologist(!) so I've seen some pretty horrible fire aftermath pictures...
Oh, and Happy Australia Day for tomorrow to all you Aussies! Since I was born on Australia Day, I used to love having a holiday "just for me"!

Denise, I hope that teh fires can be extinguished soon!
I´ve been thinking of all the poor creatures who lost their lives in these bushfires.
We cannot be thankful enough to all the people, who try to rescue animals fom being burnt.

All those beautiful, innocent animals dying or suffering like this just breaks my heart. I feel so sorry for all the people caught up in the fires too. Loosing loved ones or your home or business must be the most awful thing to have to go through. I pray for all the fire fighters, whether they be regular fighters or volunteers, I hope they all stay safe. I hope all the injured animals make it and get to go back to the bush ok.
Hugs Jane.
Its been on our satellite news, but the number you posted is simply staggering, i am so sorry.
How is the air quality? Are you able to breathe all right? My geography isn't up to snuff here....but I know our wildland fires can affect air quality in all the near by states
Take care

What a sweet story about saving the koalas, thanks for sharing! I am so sorry to hear about all the fires. My husband and I were there in Nov and everyone was worried about the lack of rain. I was really hoping that you folks would get some rain before summer. I hope it stops soon!!!

So heartbreaking! Those poor animals. I pray the losses are not as high as estimated. And thank goodness for those doing what they can for the survivors!
It has been on our news as well and it is tragic! Fires are so devastating, I hope that they can put them out soon.
OH that is so horrible...I am glad they were able to save those Koalas hopefully they will be able to save more critters of all kinds!!!
Hugs,
Krista
What horrible news - I'm so glad they have managed to save some of the Koalas and other wildlife! They are soooooo adorable in their baskets. I hope they find more that can be saved.
