Hello Teddy Bear Friends: I have been itching to learn how to embroider for years. I found this wonderful book called "Painting with a Needle" by Young Yang Chung. Now this is embroidery with silk threads. The creations are wonderful. I want to learn how to do this. Does anybody out there know how to embroider with silk and if so:
1) Where do you begin to learn how to do this?
2) Are there beginner books you recommend?
3) What materials do you buy to get started?
If you ever saw this book, you would be in aw at the gorgeous creations one can do with this art. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
Gorgeous stuff isn't it!!!! I bought a paperback bbok a couple of years ago.... "Beginners Guide to Silk Ribbon Embroidery" by Ann Cox. It's a total how to do it kind of thing for folks who have never done it before. It shows how to embroider like 20 different kinds of flat out gorgeous flowers using silk ribbon..... I've always just been dying to try it... but like my husband says... "I need another needle art obsession like I need another hole in my head!"
If you wanna PM me your address, I'd be happy to send it off to you! Since I'm not using it, it's just taking up space on the already over crowed shelves!
Let me know.

Oh Kim you are so kind. I'll PM you with my address...
I use to hang out with a whole heap of ladies making bears. Well as it would be we all had other skills as well so we all put on a workshop which was 4 days over one month. We learnt how to make a fabric doll embroidery and ' Silk Ribbon embroidery'. Which I just loved. There are lots of magazines out there that have a beginnner project in them. I cant wait to see what you do? I know you will get hoooked
I'm off now to google the book.

Wendy: That one book "THE ART OF ANNEMIEKE MEIN" is really awsome. One has to wonder how people dream up these wonderful ideas and make such beautiful art. So many talented people out there.
Sandra: I saw your silk creations. So cute. The bumble bees are adorable. What fun you must have in making them. I send you a PM.
