Well it's happened to me now. I am so frustrated I want to put a hammer through my screen. I spent 2 hours with Live Chat trying to get my listing to work. It would show up then disappear. It will link from my blog but not TT. They said, "Yes, that is a big problem ebay is having right now, we're working on it."

I told them they need to make a blanket statement (from ebay) addressing the problem as it makes the sellers look like they pulled the item on purpose. Its bad business. Makes ebay look bad as well as the sellers. My auction is ticking away, now you see it now you don't.

I counted 6 other listings that disappeared right after me, then came back after about an hour. I know I am not the only one on TT this is happened to. I now feel your pain and frustration. I am just in a sit and wait pattern praying the listing sticks.

Take a peak at the Ebay alternative thread if you haven't already! bear_original

Nancy is only a PM away to sign up for group 1 or 2.  It's not for 2 months so you can build up some pieces now AND there are fantastic artists participating so the turn out should be great during and after. (If we all do our part with bringing in the collectors!)

I'm going to give eBay another whirl sometime this week, but I've decided not to put all of my eggs (bears)into one basket.

Oh dear Jennifer I really feel for you, this happened to me two weeks ago and it is very frustrating especially dealing with live chat whose standard answer seems to be....wait six hours then it will show up!!!

Check out the Bid 4 Bears thing, it could be great if we can get it going as a group!!! bear_flower

What I find interesting is that so many people complain about eBay yet they keep on using it!  Why is that? Why not do a show, submit your work to magazines, have a website, try other sites that offer the opportunity to sell your bears? I know, it takes more effort and you won't get the audience that you do on eBay. But then, they aren't going to see the auction if it keeps disappearing. Perhaps eBay's cost is less than doing a show or advertising. Is it worth the frustrations that come with selling on eBay? No one is making anyone use eBay and the risks that come with selling there are KNOWN. So, it's a choice! Therefore, I just don't get it! Sorry!

I know Daph, it IS crazy, but if you can get a good following on ebay, you can make some good money. Some artists sell regularly and for lots. Yes, they are few and far between, but I have to admit, I'd love to be one of them, so I will also be trying ebay.

And bid4bears.....I won't forget.

I'm not going to say I complain about ebay, but I have voiced concerns. For me personally I stated above that I'm not putting all of my "eggs" in one basket. I'm not utilizing any one avenue as the one and only way to work.  I'm giving it another whirl and would probably be silly not to utilize ALL of the available avenues to get my name and biz out there.  BUT I won't let eBay or scammers screw me up like it did in the past. (changing passwords regularly, no email responses, etc)
Along with the occassional ebay whirl the effort I'm personally making is in my first show, the upcoming Bid4Bears commitment, my website is fully functional/updated consistently, I'm on bearpile, just did my first magazine ad, and I submit to magazines.  (Wow, I didn't realize I've done so much!! bear_grin )

I know what you are saying Daphne but for me with 6 kids at home and not a lot of spare cash Ebay is my only alternative...although I do submit to magazines and have a website, shows are few and far between here so for now it's ebay and Bid 4 Bears....

I'm NOT saying there is anything wrong with eBay!!! I use it from time to time and am getting ready to use it again! It's just that if you are going to use it be ready to get scammed, used and abused and cheated. It's that rick we have to take and know that we CHOSE to do it so we can't complain when  all the bad stuff happens to us. It's par for the course.

The positive thing about so many complaints about eBay here is that I know what to anticipate and can be prepared and know I'm not the only one!

WOW! You have your hands FULL. I can't complain about my two kids.

I am so new to selling my bears that ebay was my first stop. My last two bears were purchased by the same lady during the last minute of the auction. But my bids were all different folks. Which is very promising to me. I will definitely check out other avenues too. I have had a few invites for other selling sites and I will look into that. But like Sarah Jane, I don't have extra cash either since I am currently a SAHM until next fall when my son goes to kindergarten. I have to be very conscientious

I would love to do a show, but know NOTHING. Luann has given me the low-down for Texas so I am visiting one next weekend to see what they are all about. I feel like I have stepped into another world and learning one step at a time how to advertise, sell, promote and follow-through with my bears.

>>>AGH! I have to go put spaghetti in the boiling water because my kids are screaming at me...!

Hi Jennifer,
That was my problem last night, although mine was launched from Auctiva and it never did show up.  First person tried to tell me it was Auctiva's problem.  I thought about it for a minute or two, and decided it was Ebay's problem and got another person on live chat.  After getting nowhere with the girl, who kept talking me round and round in circles (I wanted to cancel it and get my fees back and relist it tomorrow when I'm home and she refused).  When she said it could take up to 6 hours, I said that was fine, but she was staying on line with me to chat and keep me company until it did.  Within a few minutes she directed me to the billing department, who helped me end my listing and refunded my money.  I printed out our conversation in case the refund doesn't show up. I'm going to wait until I know the problem is over before re-listing!

                                  hugs,

Ugh Brenda. That stinks! I was on Live Chat the second time when I brought up the fact that I knew OTHER people were having the same problem. After like 4 messages she was agreeable to direct me to the billing people for refund. By the time I got a return message from billing people (6 hours later) my listing was still there. So I decided I was going to be a believer and maybe they got their crap ironed out.

I hope you can relist yours and have it not disappear. It pretty much ruined my afternoon. But I had a beer and I feel better!

Hi Jennifer,
I agree that it's frustrating.  I always use a three day listing, and it had already been three hours by the time I got my refund and they said it could be another six - eight hours!  My point was that I had "scheduled" the listing, and when  you schedule, they pop up in the listings immediately at the time they are scheduled for.  I paid for a service they provided, but it didn't work, so I don't know why they gave me the run-around for so long.  I was on and off with live chat for about two hours as well, before I got my refund but I did get it.

                                     hugs,

                                     Brenda
