I started a thread.... a sincere and honest thread about my actions as a show promoter after an advisor acussed me of not having compassion.
There were MANY responses last night and early this morning. Then I'm gone all day and get home tonight to find the entire thread GONE! What the......??????
It's amazing what gets censored on here and what doesn't. What crap (excuse me but that's exactly what some of it has been in the past!) gets to stay that is very hurtful to the board and it's members and what stuff gets deleted for the most rediculous reasons.
I have no idea what happened on MY thread today but I don't appreciate not being able to read the responses to it, to get the feed back I sought. Did it turn out that the advisor came forward? Where harsh words said? It's OK for fly by night members to come along and bad mouth Shelli on the board or say things to other regular and respected members and the threads are left up but then THIS thread gets deleted? How bad could it have gotten? And what was the feedback from other folks on my concerns... the whole point of the thread!? I guess I'll never know and how inconsiderate and rude is THAT!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Why not just delete the offensive posts, not the entire thing?!?
nah i cant find it either!!
i was reading it too and didnt see ant reason for it to be deleated,it wasnt offensive.
maybe someone wrote a nasty post when no one was looking.that could be why its gone.
Sorry Daph, don't know where it went either, or what was said, haven't been around much this weekend, been working my butt off...one thing I have found is if you subscribe to a topic, even if posts are deleted or edited you will still have them in your email...sorry not much help this time around, but maybe something you could do for future posts or any thread at all that you are interested in that way even if they get deleted you still know what was said...
Hugs,
Krista
I will have to remember that, Krista, thank you!
Admin probably pulled it. It happens often on my bike board when the thread gets volatile. Sometimes admin will just pull a thread when they think there was something questionable or getting out of hand.
Jennifer,
Yes, but this is TT we're talking about. Things are different here.
No Problem
hugs,
Krista
Hmmmm maybe my post was a little to much for the board . I certainly wasn't rude and didn't centre anyone out just spoke my mind, but apparently you aren't suppose to do that on here.
If this is suppose to be an open forum to discuss things , then what give anyone the right to remove a topic. I do understand if it gets to the point of being volitile and mean , then by all means those comments should be deleted and that is to stop Flaming. I was reading the post today right up until I did my post, now unless something really nasty was said after my posting I could see no reason for it being pulled. But when you are an advisor and it was an advisor that was involved then of course it's to their benefit to have it pulled, I guess it makes them feel justified in their accusations.
Anyway, hope my post doesn't get deleted or this thread removed.
big hugs
Shane
I think I was the last person to post before it got removed, so I guess if anyone offended them then I did. However, I don't think anyone was being nasty... myself or anybody else. The admin had cut-and-pasted the forum rules into the conversation. I had posted that I wished for real moderators on the forum to enforce those rules, consistently and fairly. I think I made it very clear that I was not referring to the current advisors, because they DON'T have moderator power.
If that is what annoyed them... then they'll probably delete this, too. So why are you even reading this?
How ridiculous.
Kelly
I wonder why the admin would post the board rules, nothing I saw was breaking any of those rules. The one I found funny though under rules was
FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION: We support your right to express yourself, but as system administrator we request that you follow board policies when doing so.
I have not been able to locate the board policies, perhaps that is where we are going wrong .
big hugs
Shane
I read the topic right up to my post and found nothing offensive being said. It basicly said that you Daphne have been an inspiration to many bear makers and have opened our eyes to many other possibilities for making our art noticed and more available to the world. I did say it was basic.
I actually enjoyed reading what was posted and found it of great interest. So bugger me why it got pulled?
Not wishing to fan the flames of discontent - but i have to join Daphne and the other girls here in support of their, mine and all TT members right to carry out discussions and debates in a manner they see fit without Moderators removing topics posted here, especially without informing the member who has posted the topic and given them the right to defend their position before doing so.
I came in late to the discussion as i have been busy but read the whole topic from start to finish and in my humble opinion, not one of the girls over-stepped the mark - everyone was just giving their opinion and i feel were working their way to a conclusion all on their ownsome without the need for intervention from Moderators.
The fact that it involved an Advisor should not influence the Moderators decision in pulling the topic as, we are often told by TT, Advisors are just members too.
It has to be one rule for all - either pull all posts considered offensive by any member of this forum (you'd be left with a lot of blank pages) or leave all members to work through their discussions as they see fit.
Obviously i am not talking about posts which are a definite No-Go area for all decent human beings - racism, bullying, attacking a persons religious beliefs etc
There you go - i've said my bit but the Moderators do have to give members a set-in-stone rule about what posts will be deleted, they can't just say "We don't think that the subject is suitable for Teddy-Talk so we're pulling it" without justifying their actions and giving us their reasons for doing so.
Besides, they keep informing us that all disagreements/disputes should be handled using PM's but they did'nt contact Daphne using this system, giving her the opportunity to have her say to them in private.
TT - you gotta get your act together darlings. You need to get some definite guidelines drawn up for this or these situations will keep arising periodically and getting members all riled up and going grrrrrr at their monitors.
You also have to remember that we members make this site the success it is, if we all get fed up with the one-rule-for-us-one-rule-for-them attitude that many members feel applies here at Teddy-Talk it will gradually just fade away.
None of us wants that to happen.
Penny
Penny, WELL SAID! You've said it all for me.
The only think I can add, is maybe it got deleted because the private PM's between Dilu and Daphne got posted publically. I know I wouldn't appreciate that. BUt then again, that specific post could've been deleted as well.
But that's just a guess, I'm also not trying to "fan the flames of discontent"
Also, are our PM's private or are they read?? Anyone know
Heather,
We've been told PM's are private. Man, I just looked at the time, I have to go to bed LOL!
hugs,
Brenda
Ok, I think i've missed something here!! I think I must have missed Daphne's original post coz I really don't have a clue what you're all on about!! LOL
I agree.... many VERY offensive posts have been left... while this one has been pulled. Here is an example...
A while ago....(in the early days) a certain member who does not come here anymore posted some VERY slanderous and false comments about another one of our members.
I "reported" this post explaining how liebelous (sp?) and slanderous this was and felt it really should be pulled. Heck, this person could have been sued for what she put in print on a public board... I am not kidding. (but the member who this happened to was above that )
I received an email from the admin that they were aware of the situation and were hoping it would just die down on its own... that they really preferred NOT to step in and start deleting posts.
If there was EVER a post to delete... it was THIS one! (by the way... it's gone now but was up for almost a year...)
As for PM's being totally private... I was on a candle making board where this subject came up. The PM's are for private messages between 2 people that you don't want the rest of the public to see. SOMEone CAN see them if they choose... the people who have to run the board.. sometimes need to clean things out.
I have NO idea if anyone bothers to look on TT's PM's.... but is it POSSIBLE? YES.
I grew up as the daughter of a cop... so I ALWAYS figure someone may be watching or listening...
I never give sensitive information over a cordless phone.... I've picked up my cordless phone and heard my neighbors... so I know it can go both ways....
edited to add.... cause sometimes my computer restarts on its own
There are security cameras EVERYwhere.... and if you look (not too hard either) you can buy security cameras yourself disguised as clocks, pens... and yes, even teddy bears.
Your emails at work are NOT private! Even if you delete items from your computer... they can BRING IT BACK! They do this often to prove/disprove things in court... I know someone who is going thru this right now!!!!!! And did you know that many bosses MONITOR their employees emails and internet usage? There are software programs so that they can do that.
My husband and I won't even have "Onstar" in any of our cars because it's just a way for ANYone to track you (tracking is NOT just for helping you.... OK... so I watch too many spy movies.... but it's true! LOL!)
I guess my point here is that I always figure that someone may be watching or listening.... EVERYwhere
and yes... my favorite books to read are mystery/spy novels.... but so many of these things I have had happen to me!!
Thank you, George Orwell.
Just teasing, Laura, I do agree with you
Upon further reflection, if it was my comments that got the original thread pulled, then I apologize to Daphne as it was not my intent. If they took my post on the original thread calling for fair and consistent moderation as an impetus to "moderate" that particular thread... their removal of the entire conversation only proves my point. I remember the case that Laura mentioned.
Best wishes,
Kelly
Well this situation really just befuddles me. When I needed help - I got none! I went to one Help Advisor, hoping she might take it further when she had no intent to help. In the end, I couldn't be bothered anymore. It's a shame things are heading this way, I know of numerous past members who have just given up on TT, and I hope more don't follow!
 to everyone, but it seems so silly that this post was deleted.
Just wanted to show my support.
Danni
I'm with you Danni........I've also had issues and you know what? It's no big deal to me, and I wouldn't think twice about it, but then issues arrise like this? Obviously the powers that be read here and delete however they see fit, I just wish they could at least be public about it. Tell us why it was deleted, someone speak up!
What are we supposed to do when we are getting bullied from an advisor? It's a tough situation to be in, because we all enjoy being here and don't go out of our way to seek conflict. But there comes a point when you just have to stick up for yourself no?
I guess Pm's aren't private....good to know!
You all need to step back and calm down. This is Intercal's site and they can do as they wish. If you do not like it, you do not need to be here. It's as simple as that. Quit mucking up the boards with this nonsense. Get over it or get on with it.

Not when a lot of us are paying for advertising here Shirley - we pay for this site (partly/indirectly) and this is'nt the first time that something like this has happened. I see that you are quite new so you would'nt know what has happened in the past.
Quit mucking up the boards with this nonsense. Get over it or get on with it.
We were getting on with Shirley ha ha ha and it's our board so we can talk about what we like (within reason admittedly).
Penny
I am not new, I have been reading the boards since the beginning. So I am well aware of what has happened in the past. I understand many of you are advertisers.

My mail box keeps filling up with email about this whole stupid, blown out of proportion, improper reaction by admin as usual, situation. One that could have been prevented if there was some respect, maturity and enforced rules on this board but anyway. I thought I'd share with you bits from a couple of lurkers who emailed me:
I hope you dont think me rude, but I am a "lurker" on teddy talk and felt soooo compelled to contact you. I read your post, with great interest, and admire you for stepping up. I read soooooo many posts/topics and want to get into the computer and scream, but avoid doing so, because I would no doubt be hated by most (LOL). You have had the B***S to stand up and be counted. You havent hidden behind another, or been cryptic, just honest!!!! If there were more of "YOU" on T/T instead of all the "Oh what a lovely bear, Oh wonderful, Oh brilliant" T/Ters what a true and honest forum it would be. I will continue to "lurk" and no doubt scream some more, but I have never felt the need to contact someone I dont know, because of the unjust manner in which you have been treated!
and
I am really questioning why I bother reading anything there anymore, it's just going to [tick] me off again eventually!!!!! The lop-sided biased behavior there seems to just roll on constantly.
lastly
....well, I am guessing nobody will want to pm... and nobody will dare to say out loud what they really think either..... guess the old freedom of expression thing is sort of moot......there isn't any! I am guessing if it continues like this I, for one, will just hang out lurking and gleaning information instead.... ... won't bother posting ...it is not worth the aggravation....
It goes on and on and on..............
I'm sharing this for the 'powers that be' as they've been referred to by advisors. Someone was concerned about MY reputation on this board for apologizing for my implied behavior as a show promoter! (Huh? Why is that a bad thing?) when really, it's the folks higher up the totem pole here that need to be concerned about such things!
I am guessing you are walking a thin line with Intercal here Daphne. At least if I was them, and read your last post I would be very peeved. In the policies it says if you are banned then all of your posts are deleted, so you might want to copy and paste anything you want to keep really quickly before you get banned.
