Liquitex Acrylic color: Basics Matt Value series.

And what do you think about it?

Thanks in advance,
Beary hugs,

I saw this hasn't got any replies....

Liquitex is pretty cheap paint - some of their colors are very hard to mix smoothly,
and there is not as much pigment in the paint as some other brands. I find their whites
to be very chunky right out of the tube! The BASICS line is their beginner, student series
of paints - so even less quality.

Do you have GOLDEN brand acrylics in France? They are my very favorite - they have them
in tubes, in jars for a heavier body paint, & a very fluid version comes in little flip top
bottles. Alll of them have very good color.

Hi there,
I'm surprised you say that.  In the UK Liquitex is advertised as a high quality artist acrylic - pricewise it costs as much, if not more, that Winsor & Newton and Daler Rowney.  Mind you, there is more than one quality, I think - the 'System 3' range is the cheaper, 'student' range.  But I quite like their artist range and find the pigment level quite good.  The Winsor & Newton artist range is also very good and quite pigment heavy - it might be easier for you to find in France, Sophie?
At the end of the day, I think you just have to try a few different makes and see which suits you best...  I even use some of the really cheap craft acrylic paints, especially if I just need black or white to blend with.

I will have to see if I can get hold of  these Golden acrylics - I've heard of them, but not seen them in Europe bear_original

Kim,
I've just discovered the Golden Brand in Canada.  I don't have access to a local art store - only MIchaels Crafts.  I've always bought Liquitex, but never really like them. I am getting into collage and see that most professionals use the Golden gels etc.  It's odd but only one of our Michaels in the area has just started to carry Golden, so I have purchased one or two items and I love it.  I hope the others follow suit quickly.  It is more expensive, but as always, you get what you pay for.

I use lots of Liquitex and this one makes nice 3-D works right onto a piece of clear cling film.
Shape it with improvised or sculpting tools, let it dry a day or two, peel it off and it's ready to use.
Teeny, tiny noses - 1/8" and smaller, tinier toe pads......

Personally I haven't had any problems/qualms with Liquitex... but I use and prefer the Winsor Newton paints.   I agree with Christine; I think it's best to buy a tube or two, get a scrap piece of Mohair and give it a try and see how you like it.
