Ok, I may as well splurt it right out! I've got 8 commissions of bears off one person!

Not really caring what they look like as they seen my other bears and only have a few conditions.

1. 6 minis. One with no mohair as allergies but must be purple. One that is pink with bows or ribbons. Others are for boys and I have the choice.
2. 1 x 8-9" bear no mohair again. Cream or tan coloured.
3 1x 8-9 bear mohair. Cream or tanned.

I have till mid april~ish to do it. I just can't believe it. I am so scared. I don't want to do 8 bears but a friend said, she already told her friend she said I would! Plus I don't want to let them down.

Why me!? My bears are nothing special at all!   bear_cry

Help, stress overload! How do I mean 8 bears! I have made 3 so far!!!  bear_sad

Any Help would be appreciated!

Richy~

Wow....good for you Richy!  Just get going on them....perhaps send a note to whomever... telling them it might not be quite as soon as they would like..but u will give it your best shot!  Hahahha

Maybe somebody could help stitch up a bit on a body or two for you..it will still be all yours in the face and other areas..but take a bit of the actual stitching off your hands.... dunno..just a suggestions....

You poor thing, BUT good for you...

Commissions can be stressful and that is why I prefer not to do any.   Trying to make bears with certain request takes away the freedom of creating each one.  Just my thoughts.

Good luck, and if you are running out of time just let the customer know this and they should understand.
after all, 8 bears such a lot in that time frame...

how mini is mini in this case? cuz I hve a square of purple..a fairly dark purple .... that is roughly 9 X 9.5 inches.  U are welcome to it if u want it.   could u get one out of that?   Or u could always use it for the foot pads...   It is a short pile soft vevlvet with a nice backing although it is not the hard white grid backing.

I have purchased from a girl called melsbears in the UK.. ever heard of her? I bought a whole bundle in '05 for only 12.50 GBP
I am not sure if this is her email...but u could give it a try..

maybe it is still viable.

Congratulations Richy !  Don't say your bears aren't special.  Sure they are and obviously this customer thinks so !!!

Take a deep breath you have almost 8 weeks so that's one a week.  I used to do orders and when I had that many I would do all the cutting , then all the sewing, all the stuffing etc-- kind of like an assembly line.  It seems to make things go faster.  Then you can spend time on the faces as that is the part that attracts people most.   Let us know if we can help with any supplies.

You can do this and I am excited for you !!!!  Also, don't be afraid to ask for more time if you need it.  She is hiring you so you have some say in the process.

Show us pics when they are done !

Good on you Richy!! bear_thumb Way to go.
Make sure you have your friend,  who got you into this, to visit as often as possible while you are making these bears. She obviously has no idea the amount of work is involved.  Also tell her that all customers in future contact you personally.

Good for you Richy way to go.  It is very scary and it is stressful but as someone else said you have almost eight weeks to get them done.

We did a commission awhile ago for 16 bears  (I have no idea what we were thinking)  this lady had very specific instructions for us.  All 16 bears also were dressed, she provided us with old clothing that was from her parents who had passed away.  Not only did we have to design the bears, but we had to design each outfit, one of them included hats with fur trim and boots with fur trim.  We managed to get them all done but it was an absolute nightmare, while doing them we were also trying to get other orders done and getting stock ready for all the shows we do.

What I suggest is take one day and sit down and trace and cut out each bear, put each bear in a zip lock bag so all the pieces are together.  The bigger ones if you sew on machine then you can do them all at once.  Even if you hand sew then sew all the bears first.  Then spend an evening and stuff all the heads, then work on the heads first and get them done because that is most of the work is.  Once you have the heads completed then it's smooth sailing from there, just stuffing the bodies and arms and legs.  It takes a little organization but you know what, as long as you don't panic you will be just fine.  You have lots of time to get the bears done, just do so much each night and don't stress about.

By the way we no longer do commissions because of the above order, it was just to much for us and we nearly had a nervous breakdown  .  You will get through this the person who you are making the bears for will love everyone of them.

big hugs

Shane

Well done Richy....don't panic just sit down and take a deep breath. I think Shane's idea of the zip lock bags is a good one, as long as you are organised and plan in advance you will get through this in one piece, look at it as a challenge!!!  bear_grin

Very cool Richy!!  I'm totally jazzed for you, this is really a great thing!!

It's overwhelming at first, but take pride in that someone recommended your work. You've got promotors of your work out there!!  That's awesome!
Like everyone said, get an organized plan set down on paper for yourself, including a supply inventory to be sure you have what you need on hand. You're totally up for this my friend!! Give me a shout if you need anything at all
