I just wanted to take a moment and say how wonderful all the creations are that I keep admiring in both the Showcase and the Teddy Bears and Other Friends sections are.  Outstanding work folks!!!

Several people have asked me...where are the Apple Dumplings?  Well, I have been on a mini vacation...okay 3 months sabbatical really.  I've actually been considering hanging up my needle and thread, mohair and such.  I sat down over the weekend and finally made a little one and remember why I really love it.  My eyes are really giving me trouble and I'm trying to work through it but the strain it brings on them makes it hard to be consistent and really truly have a "business."  So although I'll continue to make bears I just won't be doing them as often as I'd like...but I've decided I'm just not ready go away yet.  You're all stuck with me....like it or not.

Now I have to go buy more mohair because I let my supply seriously dwindle down to the danger zone.   bear_shocked

Aww Shantell!  Well, I'm glad you are back as a bear maker; I hope you keep it up (if even just at your leisure) for a long while!!  I did that early in my pregnancy, too.  I just had to take a break and let all the pregnancy stuff sink in... Well, I took a first trimester break... lol I just didn't feel up to making bears!  Buuut.... we always pick it back up, don't we?

Yay Shantell, I'm so pleased that you decided to stay here with us in the teddy world. You bears are very cute so I look forwards to seeing more in the future. Do take it easy and don't over do it though, your eyes are far more precious than any teddy bear.

Hugs Jane.  bear_flower  bear_flower  bear_flower

I'm glad you are sticking around. There is something about making a teddy that makes it more than justa 'craft'.

Hi Shantell,
I'm sorry your eyes are giving you problems, but I am really happy you aren't giving up bearmaking quite yet.  We enjoy your company too much!

Hmmmm....I love 'seeing' you on here Shantell, but your eyes are truly important.  I know how frustrating it is to just rest them, but I have to do that from time to time.  I've found a pair of cheapo reading glasses in the grocery store that I got ages ago for making jewelry.  The detail was ridiculously small, and the reading glasses have been the best investment.  I use them from time to time when I'm working on my bears.  But sometimes (especially with sinus troubles) all  the magnification in the world won't help.  My eyes just need to rest period.

I hope you'll continue with your teds, but please don't feel pressured to make them.  Let them be a joy, something fun for you to work on when you can.  And I do hope you'll continue to post on here, making teds or otherwise

Thanks ladies....

I'm really fine.  I have my really ugly glasses.  They are funky pee YELLOW...cost a fortune.  I could buy a couple really nice artist bears for what they cost me...and they don't really help all that much...but I humor my doctors anyway.

As the old saying goes...Keep on keepin' on!!! or something like that.

Shantell, I didn't realize things have been so hard.  I'm so, so sorry to hear it.   bear_sad

So long as you're not doing yourself harm, I do hope you'll keep making your sweet bears.  That's not Advisor-y cheerleading on my part but rather, the fond wish of one bearmaker who enjoys and appreciates the work of another.

Go at your own pace of course, but please keep making those Dumplings!  I'm glad to hear you're still smitten with the artform.

I'm sorry to hear you've not been too good Shantell.  Sad that your glasses are so ugly bear_sad  Oh, I hate how much we have to spend on medical things!  I think of all I could buy too  bear_wacko
