I have a problem.  I need half a yard of Intercal's 785H in 'salmon - 1025' to complete a customer's order, but Intercal don't have any in stock and won't have for ages ... does anyone happen to have a half yard they can spare me?  If so I'd love to purchase from you!

Thanks girls!  It's awful when this happens ... it's rare with Intercal and I wasn't at all prepared!  Fingers crossed that someone has some they can spare ... eeeekss!!

Sorry Paula, no help here either, but Intercal just called me last week and told me two fabrics that I ordered were out of stock so I can feel your pain!!!

Eeeeeek . . . what a bummer, Paula!  I wish I had some of that mohair in my stash.  If you want to start over, I do have a large piece of salmon fur that I got from Edinburgh many, many years ago that I will gladly give you.

Peachessupersize2.jpgBless you Sue Ann ... that's very kind of you but I've a feeling the salmon is very much more pink from Edinburgh, rather than peach - this pic above is the bear I need to replicate.  Do you think your fabric is close enough in colour?  If it is, I'd be delighted to buy half a yard from you!

Someone suggested I dye a piece of Intercal's 785H off-white .. now there's a thought.  I have found a piece of similar peachy colour fabric at the bottom of my fabric box and the pile is well, 'almost but not quite', so I may make the bear up in it and see where it leads and try dyeing another 785H too ... belt and braces!

I'm so cross with myself over this.  I hope I don't have to let my customer down.   bear_sad

I've done another silly thing too.  GRRRR!!!  I have been working on a lovely piece of Edinburgh's MC16 in a beautiful very pale pink (shade 5186 - I think they call it mauve ... must be an American thing, mauve is more purpley in the UK!) I really wanted to make a lovely traditional girl bear, with pale beige velvet paw pads, so why then did I create a great head shape but then turn it into a character head?  Doh!!    I've just checked Edinburgh's website and needless to say, there's no more of that fabric available ... and I really want to make another head because this head just doesn't suit the rest of the bear ... groan!!!

It's just not my week this week!!!  bear_cry

Wish I had some to trade you for - especially if you had a small piece of Schulte Stouffmeister O-147 to complete a leg for a bear I'm making! I did a great head and then drew out the body - ooops!  bear_angry  I'm pretty sure I can get more but hate to wait!

Ahhhhhhhh . . . yes, Paula, the Edin. mohair I was thinking about for you is too pink.  BUT, I have another piece of old Edin. fur that may be a better match.  It is a 1", feather mohair that is on the sparse side.  Edin. calls its color "champagne".  Here's the scan.

If you think you can use the fur, I'll just send it to you for shipping costs.

I have a piece like Sue Ann's, sparce, champagne color and 1" feathered. I have maybe a little more than a fat quarter. You're welcome to it, as well, if the two pieces would be enough.

poor Paula, what a dillema, but it is interesting to see the way everyone's mind is working-I suspect you ciykd try dying the mohair, and be quite surprised that you can get exactly what you want.  Who knows you may decide to keep white and off white on hand just to  dye when you are in a bind.

I hope you share whatever you come up with, and I am sure it will be beautiful and loved by your customer.

You've all been so lovely!  Thank you so much for your offers of help and advice.

Sue Ann, that piece of fabric is gorgeous and thank you so much for your generous offer, but unfortunately, I don't think a sparser pile will work for this bear.  I think my most sensible option now is to offer my customer an alternative colourway and hope she doesn't cancel her order because I just can't find this peach Hembold anywhere.  Would you believe that after trawling the internet for hours, I can't find the Schulte mauve (5186 MC16) anywhere either, so no new head for my latest bear either.  What a disatrous week this has been! bear_sad

Thanks Ellen .. I tried Berelijn but unfortunately I can access the fabric pages on their website.  I've tried everything I can think of to get access but they won't let me in!

Let's hope next week is more productive.  Today I'm going to leave bear-making well alone and concentrate on my knitting instead!  I think if I knit the dress for my bear first, perhaps I will make the actual to fit beautifully next week ... that's my plan anyway!!

Ladies, you are the greatest!  Ellen, I am an Aquarius, so fear not, next week's potential disaster will not be of my making!!!

Maria, if you happen to stumble across a 1/4 yd/metre of MC16 5186 mauve, please let me know who to contact ... my bear must have a new head!!  Have a great time at the show and please tell us all about it when you get back!  bear_thumb

Jane, so close and yet so far!!  Thank you so much for hunting for me! bear_flower

I really appreciate the help you've all given me ... it's lovely to find such support on here.  I've just ordered a couple of substitute fabrics from Intercal for the peach bear .. I'll let you know how I get on with them! bear_thumb
