I don't pay atterntion to it because I figure it only takes one serious buyer to make the sale .So 2 watchers or 40 doesn't matter. I think most times it is other artists just seeing what your bear will go for.Which is fine.

It's really interesting to see how many wactcers come up.  Genrally I see about 40- 80 watchers and on my tiger I had 147 watchers.  I think much of it is just as you all have said and just people who are curious.   I also think that the number of watchers has no effect on the auction outcome.  Afterall, it only takes is two people who really want the item.
I have had 60 watchers on one auction and the reserve was not met.  I think the only predicable thing about auctions is that they are unpredicable. bear_wacko

It's all too stressful on Ebay!!

I've experienced the same with watchers and bidders.

Mind baffling...  That's why I prefer not to put them on auction site and I'd rather put mu efforts into creating the bears.

You're welcome Ellen I didn't know others did the same amount of research, i.e., the # on different days of the week!

Whether I use 5 or 7 day listings, I always end them on Tues, Wed or Thurs and at an ideal time for the US.
7 - 10 PM across the mainland time zones.

I'm also not sure if I chose this option in eBay or Andale, but I get only 'unique' visitors - meaning no matter how many times a visitor looks, only one 'visit' is recorded. Others breaking up the pattern of my visits to my auction doesn't affect it - only a single recorded visit per eBay ID.

I have the same experience as the rest of you.  I think most if the watchers are just curious artists and friends and that is fine.  I prefered it when you couldn't see the number of watchers.  The only thing a large number of watchers does is get you on the ebay Pulse page.  That's kind of fun to check sometimes.  It shows the top 10 most watched items in each category.

That's interesting, Tammy, I had no idea that there was such a page! I will have to look for it.

I pay attention to the watchers because whether they are potential buyers, or just curious about the auction, they are all people who want to see that bear at least one more time. On the average I get between 15 - 25 watchers, so if a bear doesn't get that many, I need to take a second look at him. Maybe it's the bear, maybe the photos or maybe he is just different than I usually make and if one gets more than average watchers, I take a second look at that bear too.

Wow thanks Tammy I had no idea that page existed!!! That is really cool!!

As far as the time zone thing, I have ended my last two to accomadate other than the US and Canada, so for my next two I will end them for US and Canada...I put an apology in my acution regarding the start and end times and let people know that it is because I tried to find a middle ground for collectors all over the world but have noticed that my bids are not as high when ending around noon PST...so will definetly go back to ending around 7 PST.

hugs,
Krista
