For those of you who pose your heads, tilting to one side or the other, why do you choose the side you tilt towards and while it seems like those of you who do it do  it to the same side fairly consistently, do you have a reason?

like left or right handed or left or right sightedness being stronger, which side makes it easier for you to do things.....

just curious

I don't know if others do this, but my bears' heads are actually tilted forward symetrically (due to the body neck line being slanted) so that only in a pose where their bodies are 3/4view and their heads are straight on looking at the viewer, do they appear tilted to the side. This way they can titl either way. I hope this makes sense.

bear_rolleyes  I'm a real lefty so I cut/slant forward and to the left. Because I do this while the body is inside-out, when I turn it, the head slant is on the right. Works for all you righties out there. But there are other lefty things I have to be careful of, like how a character holds and object or even how a bear holds a kitten. My instinct is to do it "lefty" and I know that confuses some people  bear_wacko

Oh great?! The red persian in the small jpeg is slanted left! Heck, I don't know what I do

Dilu .... UMMMMMMMM When I pose them I try tipping both ways and putting the body at different angles then do pictures, what ever captures my heart is the picture I go with. I will have to look if I favor one side over the other. UMMMMMMM good question .

OH Karen!

How funny you are-I am very left handed too, so your explanation makes sense....

Well, very left handed except with piano then it doesn't matter, the keys are all the same, thank heavens.

Now I have to ask:

Re: posing the head  I'm a real lefty so I cut/slant forward and to the left. Because I do this while the body is inside-out, when I turn it, the head slant is on the right. Works for all you righties out there.

Do you mean you are doing it to make the majority (Right handers) more comfortable with your critters?  Does it make a difference?

I never ever considered this before, and if the answers are yes, then I thank you, because it seems like something that would make a difference.  I shall keep this in mind going forward and see what happens.

thanks

dilu

bear_rolleyes Dilu,
We don't think of this because we live in a world where most people are of different handedness than us. But I think we do confuse righty's sometimes. Have you ever noticed what happens when we try to pass a right-handed person on the street? We almost always go the opposite way around them and it ends up being a little dance  bear_whistle And with sports! Forget it! In grade school I had to use a right-handed mitt and just threw it off when I had to throw the ball  bear_wacko MAny times things we do just look odd to right-handed people  bear_happy

P.S. Left-handed women are even rarer than left-handed men.

My grandmother was a lefty that was forced to be a righty in school.  It's my understanding that they would force children to use their right hand...they would actually take the pencil out of their left hand and place it in their right one and make them use it.  However, she did almost everything else left handed.   She just turned 90 years old this February.

As far as head posing...I haven't a clue why I do what I do...I just do it.   bear_wacko   bear_wacko   No though it involved...don't go and confuse me, Dilu, by making me THINK about it now.   bear_grin   bear_wub   bear_wub

I try to mix it up . . . have some tilting left and some to the right.  I just don't want them all looking the same way.

I mostly use wobble joints and try all ways before I decide....I find the 'wobble' seems to sit more comfortably one way that the other!!!  bear_ermm
