Chaska, MinnesotaHello Teddy Bear Friends: I found this wonderful bear by Michelle Lamb on Bid 4 Bears and saw the glorious nose she made on him. This was her description of the nose: "nose of a flexible clay baked over the floss nose below and then textured and colored to make it look quite realistic."
Does anybody know how she made this type of nose? Here is the site I found it.

Creative Design Studio (RKR4CDS)There is a Sculpey/Fimo/Premo (I'd have to go look at my supplies) that bakes very firm but has a *bit* of flex in it yet after curing. I'll look it up when I go to the workroom - or Google it!

Flying Fur Studiosyeah, I would just ask Michelle. Maybe it's something that took her a long time to figure out and she doesn't want to share.
Your best bet would be to experiment yourself and see what techniques you can come up with.
Posts: 1,836I'd try different google searches too. There are tons of technique pages out there for the clays...some have you add bit of "stuff" to get textures and colorings (like crayons for example). If you read the pages you might be able to get a cool look with a little trial, error and experimenting!

Seamore CollectiblesI do recall a few years ago, I found some sculpey clay for my daughter.
That's in the days when we did crafts together.
And it came in a grey and white speckled color and other colors from a craft factory in my town.
I'll have to do some reserach and see if they still make any.
Little Bear GuyThere is a flexible Fimo or polymer clay that you can get. I think we bought some at one point as we were making wine glass charms and the clay was bendable after it was baked, that way we could spread open the charm a bit to put on around the stem of the wine glass. You should be able to get it at most craft stores, I think we bought ours in Michaels.

Seamore CollectiblesI picked up some textured sculpey clay from my local store. Only had two in stock. Packet of eight, called Granitex. Stone coloured clay.
I'll give it a whirl his weekend and see how it comes out.
Posts: 3,540I've always read that you can use Fimo over a glass eye to create the sculpted nose. I guess if you didn't have a mold, each nose would then be handmade/OOAK. But I've always been a coward to try. How well does the Fimo really stick to the glass?? I'd be horrified if in a couple of years my bear's nose popped off leaving the glass eye instead!
