I would love to try the mineral granulate to stuff a bear but cant find it anywhere??/An help would be much appreciated.thanks Diane xx

Diane: I am not sure what mineral granulate is. Are you trying to add weight to your bear. If so, people use glass sand, copper beebe's or steal shots to do this. Is this what you might be looking for?

Are you talking about river rocks? like rocks from a fishtank?  I am afraid I am not sure what granulat is...

Its a type of crushed mineral used by fmn and ridibears.I have used sand,glass,shot you name it over the years but for smaller bears sand is not heavy enough and shot is bumpy in the feet.Glass and sand is great for bigger bears and shot for medium but its hard to get the right wright for a mini.Nobody seems to know what it is.I may have to e-mail and artist already suing it.

Diane: If you find out where to buy it I would love to know. I make mini's too and it is hard to add weight to them....

I recently purchased glass beads from Harbor Freight Tools here in the U.S.   My husband picked it up for me when he was in town and when he returned, I opened the bottle and found it to be so fine, almost like dust.  It's not at all like the glass beads I was used to.  I used it though, and I really like it. I think it would be perfect for minis.  It's 80 grit and used for sandblasting.  I noticed that the guy that worked on my daughter's car used it for sandblasting her radiator. Laura Lynn uses it too and really likes it.

Thanks Girls .I will give that a go Andrea if the postage is not too high.Your bears have lovely smooth wee feet.I have been using sand in my tichies but after finishing a slightly bigger one and using shot I want the same feel in my wee ones.I am off to see how much it is .Thanks a bunch.

Still sleeping in this morning?
It appears to be common there; I've never seen it detailed as a weighting/filling by anyone outside of that area.
Can one of you take a pic of it by a tape measure so we can see its size and appearance?

I am a little late entering this conversation, but I myself am interested in trying the sand or "mineralgranulat."  I have a Ridibear and love the weight and feel of it.  I always thought she used sand but going to her website, she calls it "mineralgranulat."  I did a little searching on the internet and found this website and a photo of what I would be interested in in Germany but the shipping costs are too high to send over here.  Since you make much smaller bears and live much closer, you can probably find what you need.  Here's the website - http://www.make-a-teddy-bear.com/shop/i … edaa754575

Hi Diane:

I just purchased a few bags of Diamond Sand...at a furniture store. It comes in a variety of colours and looks very much like the picture from Connie.
In a furniture store, they are using it for decorative purposes around plants...real or artificial.

This looks a lot like what you've shown, Connie.  I get this at Wal Mart and it's called Decorative Sand.

They have the mineral granulat at www.probaer.de in Germany
I suppose that is what Ridibear use for her bears.
I buy from them but I don´t know the shipping cost to Scotland.

For my minis I use the stainless steel shot from LuLu Bears.... http://www.lulubears.com/  She is also a TT vendor.

I don't like using sand in case one of my "fur kids" ends up going to Oz.  Oz customs does not like it when organic material is used for stuffing....
