I was having fun reading all these suggestions--but which side is the WRONG side of the glass???

I had fun reading these too.

Ginny,  drinking from the wrong side of the glass is when you place your chin into the glass placing your lips on the opposite side facing you...then bend over and drink.  The times I have tried this I end up wearing most of it! bear_whistle  bear_whistle  bear_laugh  bear_laugh  bear_laugh  bear_laugh

I'm glad your hic-cups are gone Daphne.  I was a respiratory therapist for 10 years (20 years ago).  One night a family of 6 brought their grandfather in the emergency room because he had had hiccups for a week and they were all driving to Disneyland (8 hour trip) together the next morning and they didn't want to listen to his hiccups for 8 hours in the car.  The doc called me in to take care of it.  What he instructed me to do was take a suction tube, stick it down his throat and tickle his uvula.  Believe it or not, it worked.  But then I don't expect you would have a suction tube laying around anywhere.

I definitely vote for the "wrong side of the glass" treatment. Works for me every time. That's not to say I don't end up wearing a good bit of the water, but when I get those horrible, whole-body hiccups, I really don't care as long as they go away! Just don't try it with a carbonated beverage. Let's just say, things can go very very wrong...  bear_whistle

I'm a little late on this one, but what works for me everytime is I take a deep breath, as deep as I can go. Almost until it hurts.
I then hold this breath for as long as I can, and by the time I blow out my hiccups are done.

This has been alot of fun to read though.
