Early this morning, my sweet little Dachshund Cleo FINALLY had her puppies....SEVEN in all!
We have 4 girls and 3 boys, all healthy and happy.
She did fabulous and is a great little first time mommy!
I have attach pics of them. As they get a little bigger, I will get pics of them individually. I dont want to bother mommy and her new babies quite yet.

Waggle BearsOh what wonderful news and beautiful pictures. They look such chubby babies and strong enough to be sure they get breakfast.
I count 4 red, one black and one red/brown and white in the bottom picture. One little guy must be at the bottom of the pile.

Please give Cleo some extra rations! She looks so thin after the puppies, you can count every vertebrae. Congratulations, Cleo! Beautiful puppies!

Congratulations!!! They are all so cute, and Mom looks to be taking it all in her stride!!!
I know, I know...she looks anorexic now....ewww! So far, we have offered her food/water several times but she only accepted it once, which I think is pretty normal. The pups are less then 11 hours old, so she is more interested in them right now. Im sure within a day or two, she will be back to her normal self and eating more like a nursing mom should.
I think the having so many puppies drained alot out of her as she is normally a very muscular little dog. It wont be long and she will be back playing in mud puddles and chasing her ball!

Storytime BearsYes, it will be a housefull, thats for sure! It should be lots of fun and I cant wait until they start venturing out and playing.
We actually thought there was only 3 or 4. I finally couldn't stay awake any longer and headed to bed at 3:30 this morning and left hubby (who has a few hours of sleep under his belt already) to tend to Mom and the pups. When I woke up this morning, I was shocked when he told me she had SEVEN!
They are all so adorable and Cleo is a fantastic mom! We have some reds (which look more like a chocolate brown right now), a black and tan and a couple with piebald coloring like Dad. I really love the first one that was born...I named him Uno (Im sure that will change) and he is a little chunk. He is a chocolate brown one with a tiny little white spot on the top of his head.
Well I'm off to get coffee, coffee and more coffee......*yawn*

Hey, with that loooong Dachshund body, she's got plenty of room for seven babies to belly up to the bar!
*laughing* I dont think she would agree with you Tracy. She was so big and miserable this last week and I felt so bad for her. Her tummy was almost dragging on the ground!
She looks so thin now because her big ol' belly is gone (wish I would have lost my "baby fat" that quick) and the fact that seven little babies would take alot of her nutrients.

Posts: 3,540:bday: CONGRATULATIONS!!!! :bday: She's done FAB for a first time mummy And look at all those gorgeous pups ~ you can tell she really gave them her all. Don't worry about the weight thing, she'll regain it quickly. In fact, I think its easier on them to pup without extra fat.

Dad is with my girlfriend right now, so he hasn't seen his little sweeties yet! He will be home this weekend. It was actually a really good time for him to be away, as mommy is being very protective of her pups right now.
I will attach a pic of him when he was a wee lad.....he is the smaller one on top.

I am a Dachshund Lover.
I have a mini long hair black and tan dachie
His name is Toby and hes 18 months old. We are looking at a mini short hair red girl at the moment but they are so hard to get here in Aus. Toby was seny over from WA and took 6 months to get him.
I have a Keplie x too Cloe and she is 14 this year.
Keep us posted of them growing over the weeks
