I'm working on a critter with long (3 inch) mohair and have a couple of places that need to have a slight curl to them. I've been toying with the idea of taking my curling iron to them....
They sell curling irons for dolls with natural fiber hair.... mohair is a natural fiber.... so I shouldn't have a problem, right?
Yes, I'll do a test piece first! Think I'll wait until morning though...
I'll let you know how it goes!
Anyone done this?
Daphne I have done this for years...blow drying too...
You were just the person I was hoping would answer my question! I just didn't want to email you with such a silly one!
Thank you , Jenny!
my question is, how long does the curl stay? Is it perm. ??
Where did you get such long mohair? I'm having trouble finding a good supply.
I've been trying to find long mohair also . I haven't had any luck.

Thanks Daph, off to have a look!
Like human hair mohair hold it's shape after curling it until you wet it ...as you won't be taking teddy in the shower with you I'd think it's safe to say it's pretty permanent..I have ones that I have blow dried straight and they are still straight now after a few years.
I was thinking about a bit of hairspray for good measure but it seems to hold just fine, and I've gently brushed through it a time or two.
I know of artists who have used curling irons on their bears for years and it all works out just fine.
You can use hairspray or curling spray to help the hair retain its shape.
