One of my bears is an Ebay Orphan!!!!I know that this has happened to other artists ( it has even happened to me before) and I know collectors have reasons for chosing to sell bears they have adopted but...but...he was my favorite bear_cry and my best ebay sale ever. AND he's in the current Teddy Bear and Friends
I want to buy him back!! Even if I could afford to, should I? Am I even allowed to by ebay?

Here he is. "I Love My Teddy"

Tami,
I can see no reason why you couldn't bid on you bear and buy him back.  It shouldn't be against the rules.  Maybe you could ask Ebay Live to confirm it.

I have the same situation right now.  Colton, the bear in my avatar is up on ebay for sale . . . no bids yet . . . and I'm really tempted to bid for him myself.  He was a Toy Shoppe exclusive (edition of 5).  The photos the seller has up are AWFUL, so that certainly doesn't help sell the bear.  http://cgi.ebay.com/Past-Time-Bears-Col … dZViewItem

Man, that sucks
If that happened to me I'd buy my bear back.

Sue Ann, those pics are really horrible. He's such a great bear, why would they want to sell him??

Tami, that's a bummer. If I ever got my hands on that bear I would never let him go!! You won't break the rules, buy him back!

Tami - Go for it!!

Sue Ann - I wouldn't recognize it as your work or as being that particular bear if you hadn't told us.
That's one of the main points that bothers artists; seeing their bears represented so poorly.
Many contact the seller & ask if they'd like the artists' own images.

Tami and Sue Ann, I can't imagine why anyone would ever sell either of your bears. Tami,  you obviously put a lot of work and love into the "teddy" set. It would break my heart, as well. Sue Ann, it doesn't even look like the same bear. I would think that you should be able to bid. Isn't there something you all have been talking about that lets a bidder remain anonymous?

You know, many dog breeders always put into their contract that if you no longer want the dog, they will take it back. Of course, they don't pay you for it. But is it possible to put something in your ebay info when auctioning a bear that says if the bidder decides to sell the bear, you get first right of refusal??? Just wondering...because I know I'd be so sad to see that happen.

As a collector, I would never give my collection up unless under extreme diress.  From an artist point of view it would break my heart to see one of my bears on ebay especially because I have yet to sell a bear.  They were all given as swaps.

They both are wonderful bears too.  Buy them back!!!!!!

You are just an ebay shopper at this point...buy it back immediately....well...wait and put a bid on near the end so you don't have to pay more than necessary..but make it a good one in case someone else is bidding as well.

Buy them back!  I have done that when it happend to me.  Once it happened when I needed one for my Grandma... it was perfect timing!  Recently I bought another back and she's one that I'm keeping!!  I never get to keep any of my bears.... so this time I CAN!

Sue Ann,
The lousy pictures of Colton might actually be to your advantage. You know exactly what he is, as you made him.  No one else will see those pics in a flattering light and there might not be any bids.  I'd wait till the very end and go for it.  Good luck!

Great advice, Brenda.  Tami, I agree; you're a buyer now.  Doesn't matter whether you're buying the GREASE soundtrack or your own bear back, I wouldn't think.  Go for it!

Hugs to both you and Sue Ann, too.  I've been there, and it always smarts just a little bit to see a bear let go... bear_sad  It's sooooo not a reflection of your work.  Both bears are superb!

Aww hugs Tami and Sue Ann.  Sue Ann I wouldn't have believed that that was your avatar bear!  I'd bid for sure if I were either of you, beautiful bears!!!

I've had my bears resold, but not on ebay, and was so sad that the collector didn't think to contact me first  bear_cry  I especially wanted the one back!

Tami and Sue Ann ~ buy those teddies back!!!  I don't see ebay having any rule against you purchasing them, none at all, so get your teddies back

Thanks everyone! I just have to see if I can afford it now! Sounds funny not being able to afford one's own work. I don't know what kind of reserve my collector has put on it, but I do know what she paid for him! My husband said, "We know the set is worth that---that is not the issue it's more of a current cash flow issue!!"

Sue Ann, the auction photos are way too dark!! You're right! But I agree with Brenda, YOU Know the quality of the bear and you could buy him back at the end. He's a wonderful bear!

Tami and Sue Ann,

what great bears!  I can't believe someone is selling them.  I understand if times get tough and people need the money.  I've never sold any of my bears though and don't plan too.  I love them too much.  I hope you win back your bears.

As everyone else has said both of your bears are wonderful SueAnn and Tami.
I can't understand why soneone would be onselling them.
Best of luck with winning back your bears, should you decide to.
