I am trying to make a kitty pattern for the first time and was wondering about the tail........is it easier to make the tail with the body or would it be better to make it seperate and then sew on?

I've always done tails separately and then sewn them on.

I would just make it as a second piece and sew it on.  You could put wire in it.

Make it an add on tail.  And you will want to leave a long opening in the middle for getting it turned.  Years ago I started a cat that had a tail as part of the body.  It is still sitting unfinished because I could not get the tail turned and was just so frustrated with the whole thing that I started over with a new design.
Good luck.
