Does anyone know where I can get a short pile (like 1/4 inch) woven backed faux fur in a piece bigger than a 9 inch square.  I've tried ordering through edinburgh but when my package arrived the synthetic wasn't in it and was marked as "deleted" though it's still on their website.  I've seen it occasionally on ebay but inevitibly the seller doesn't post outside of the states or will not post without charging ludicrous amounts for postage.  I have been looking forever!!

Hi Melissa,
Bearycheap.com.au has a synthetic called mocassin with a tight backing & short pile, click on synthetics then kohair & razzle then scroll down, it comes in a few colours. Gerrys.com.au also has one under synthetic then click on mock mohair, don't know if they are exactly what you're looking for, but it might be worth a look..

hugs,
Denise.

Hi Melissa,
Since I am into tichy bears and fabric I thought I might comment :)
Sassy bears and Fabrics is a lovely lady - I purchased from when she had an ebay shop and since from her own web site - she does a schulte synthetic with a woven back (not stretch at all!) I am very sure she would be able to offer you a price for a larger piece fantastic fabric - I have used on a number of small bears

Beary Cheap's moccasin is lovely but I think  more like a long pile cashmere and I found it has a bit of stretch - tho maybe I stuff too hard bear_grin bear_grin

Also there are a number  of suppliers on ebay - Germany - I just bought a longer synthetic faux fur from a really nice lady but it was morelike 1/2" but maybe in the ebay germany shops you might find what you are looking for
Hope you do soon :)
Hugs

Yes, the lady at Sassy Bears & Fabrics is a real angel!  I paid in the morning and she e mailed me to let me know that my fabric had shipped out Priority Mail that very afternoon.  Her shop auctomatically sends out "form e Mails" when your order goes through etc... but she also actually ANSWERS private e Mails as well!  I highly recomend her!

HI Ann....Yes the lady at Sassy bears  and Fabrics is really a nice lady. She helped me a lot trying to run down a certain fabric..even hooked me up to another web site for fabric she did not have !

I see that where you live is in Renfrew ..very interesting, my mother is a Renfro . Tracing our genealogy we do go back to Renfrew's that came from that area... Winney

The lady at Sassy bears is lovely, and I'm just bursting to try a miniature in her smokey fabric - Helena uses it and her bears are soooooo cute (and she's a lovely lady too!!)   I just haven't got round to it yet!!!

I bought three colors of the smokey long pile and I am dying to try it!  Please..... maybe these kids will go to bed on time and I can get a pattern traced out before hubby wants his "husband" time!

Hi Winney,
Quite amazing tracing family back isn't it Unfortunately my own association with Renfrew is only 3 years but my cousin has lived here for about 20 and a guy I work with - his wife is a minister locally - I wonder if any of them know Renfrew named families that still live in the area? Want me to ask?

mouse2.jpgHi
it's wonderful stuff. I've used it on a miniature mouse & bunny. Sassy's such a wonderful lady to  deal with. I had my package within  4 to 5 days, and all the way to Australia.

Thanks guys..I have used Sassy bears before and she is great.  One day when I get a camera I'll get to post a photo of my 1.5 inch bunny I made with her long pile.  I might ask her if she'll cut a quarter for me and I'll try German ebay too.

I'd be keen to hear what the Dear bears velour is like Jenny - I did think about ordering some once but at the time the exchange rate was really high and so I didn't order.

Like others on here, I rate sassybears highly and just love her fabric bear_wub - I've tried some of the longer (half inch) piles too, and have a bunch of medium pile fabrics just waiting to be used....but nothing beats the smokey long pile for me!

Thanks Clare - you're too kind  (the money's in the post!  bear_grin bear_grin bear_grin)

Thank you Shelli,
first mouse I ever tried, and I was quite pleased. The smokey longpile  had a lot to do with how he turned out.
