Have you heard the news? Kathy Martin, editor of Teddy Bear Scene magazine, has been hard at work in her garret (!) researching and writing a beautiful new teddy bear book called, (wait for it ....!) .....
TEDDY BEARS, A COLLECTIBLE HISTORY OF THE TEDDY BEAR
It has just been published and is now being promoted in the September issue of the Teddy Bear Scene magazine www.teddybearscene.co.uk !
The book looks beautiful, featuring a stunning Michelle Lamb dressed bear as the main front cover star. It is "a history of Teddy's dramatic evolution, from his first creation in 1902 to becoming a valuable collectible, and his present work-of-art status."
Sounds perfect for a summer read to me - I shall certainly be adding it to my collection of bear books!
Yep - just ordered mine!!! Kathy always writes SO well - I can't wait to get my copy......and I am SO chuffed that Kathy asked if she could use one of my bear tableaux in the book......

Um, possibly! Kathy contacted me and asked if she could include me and showed me what she'd written about my work ( which was so nice I hardly recognised myself!) so, I could hardly say no could I? I don't know if my bit made the final publication ... I haven't heard otherwise, but I don't think I'll quite believe it until I see it in black and white print for myself!! My copy should be on its way any day!
There is an address published in the September issue of Teddy Bear Scene magazine for purchasing copies of the book ...
UK Cheques are payable to K Martin, Ursus House, 210 Finchampstead Road, Wokingham, Berks RG40 3HB United Kingdom. I'm not sure about overseas payments and shipping costs, but I'm sure if you contact kathy, she'll be delighted to let you know how to go about buying your copy. I think the book has already been published in the US through Paragon Books, but you may have to double check that. Kathy can be emailed at the TBS magazine too: kathym@warnersgroup.co.uk
Oh boy oh boy! My copy came today and it is BEAUTIFUL!!!!! I am so proud to have been included in this book!!! My 'Tiger Feet' bear, (which Kathy owns) has a full page and some of my Chilterns have been included too! What a thrill!
The pictures in this book are outstanding and there is so much information in the book. It's beautifully written and I know I will return to it over and over again. Did I mention it's hardback and has a dust jacket? Kathy has done a super job - this book is a 'must have' for anyone involved with bears!!
Ooo. There's something I can add to my Amazon list! I'm going to go check it out!!!
Oh do Lisa! It's published by Parragon Books ... hope that helps!
