Slothlet-Hanging-small.jpgSlothlet-sat-small.jpgSlothlet-Laid-small.jpgI hope you're all in a flattering mood today, because right now I have a cold, and tomorrow I'm back at work, so I need cheering up :D:D:D

I'm sooo happy!  Slothlet is finally complete, all that needs to be done is to work out if he's a boy or girl (boys have a back marking to make it obvious XD) and to take some decent piccys... think I might be stealing one of the local papers cameramen for that job bear_original

Slothlet is likely to be a boy called 'Ai', as I read that the locals called them that after their calls bear_original He's about.... 10 inches tall sitting, although his position can change that,  and has a double neck joint, (my first ever), needle felted face (second ever) transparent FIMO claws (first ever... these took AGES!) and armature (first EVER! Wow poseability 0_0 )

EEEE!!!!!!

I just want to say thanks to everyone here at TT.... I know that's quite wide, but really, the majority of the information I used to make him came from the extensive library here, and the posts I've already made about these guys... thank you!  I'm not sure what to do next with them, maybe they need a little more work... I don't know if he's good enough for the general public yet!  But he's good enough for m, an that's all I car about right now.... plus all your opinions too!    Once I decide if I'm selling or making more, and once I have good piccys I'll add him to the second gallery.

Thanks guys!

I'll see if I get any interest in the idea: after all with all the lovely bars around I'm not sure anyone with be after one of my sloths! One the one hand, nice cuddly bear... on the other... pokey clawy sloth XD

bear_laugh Thank you everyone bear_original He keeps beckoning to me, I think I'll be keeping him until I can at least prove to myself that I am capable of making another one, and then and only then he may go on sale bear_original I don't want  to lose him if he's the only one that will ever be successful! XD

The only problem with him, I think, is tat his fur is relatively sparse so you can see his seams, and I have the worse ladder stitch known to humanity! I was thinking of entering him into a beginners competition, but I don't know if he's good enough...

... I'm still quite glad he didn't come alive in he night and claw me XD

bear_laugh Thank you Ali, I'm glad you weren't annoyed by the sheer amount of posts that actually led up to one being completed! There must be about three other sloth topics... XD Ah well, i got there in the end :)

See this is the plan: I'm no good at bears, and everyone on here is very good, so mine will never be as good... so pick something noone else does!  MWAHA I think it is safe to say my sloth is one of the better sloths ever made on TT.... see how that works? bear_laugh

I win!

Ahhh that how you do it - find an unusual animal   Might try that trick myself!!!! Between us we could do the whole animal kindgom  bear_laugh

I loved all your posts - its the best way for me to learn.  One question, how did you attach the claws - did you use wire like glass eyes and use glue or was there another technique?  I'm so nosey  bear_grin

Mwahha! The plan is coming together! *rubs hands gleefully*

I need to find more relatively flat-faced animals bear_tongue Any suggestions?

His claws were made from FIMO, and then I poked a hole into their base.  Cook 'em and then force them onto a copper wire: then bend and secure that as armature. No glue: the claws are held in place because the holes I left in the arms for them to poke through are quite small bear_original

Wow, thats sooooooo clever

How about one of the monkeys - I like the small spider monkey pictures that the lady from Doodlebears took at London Zoo in the General section.

I was actually considering working on an orangutan, but i don't know how I'd work out anatomy: they're so hairy!

Maybe a golden lion tamarin would be nice to do? I like gibbons myself... always open to flat-faced suggestions!

bear_laugh Thank you everyone! I have to say I took him to my mum's work yesterday and handed him over to their top photographer, who immediately went home to get some branches to pose him on, and his shots are AMAZING!  I will add them here later on, as I'd like some input on wether or not he'd be good enough to enter into the beginners section of a competition or not...

I think if I do end up at Hugglets I'll be bringing him, slung around my neck like a small hairy child, so you can all meet him in person and see if he's as good in real life!  Plus that way you'll know it's me...

Ta!
