I've had one of those non productive days of getting nothing done fast today!   bear_laugh  bear_laugh  It's grey and rainy and dreary - looks like November!!   bear_sad   And I've been soooo cold!!!

Anyhow, I gave up in the end and thought I'd pose the question to you all!!   How do you stay creative and get fresh ideas.....??

Right now . . . knowing I have a big show in October and my inventory is really puny.  I've GOT to be productive, so I focus on creating.  Looking at bear magazines (even old issues) inspires ideas.

Clare,
We've just been on two weeks holiday and we visited a lot of places (and for me that means galleries LOL!) , including a wondeful Wildlife Fine Art Show.   I've seen scrimshaw to die for, incredible fine art quilts, sculptures and paintings by Canada's finest artists.  I've come home with so many ideas that I could barely sleep last night.  Do you have any musuems or galleries close to you.  It's amazing what ideas pop into your head, even when your looking at a totally different
medium.

Sue Ann's idea about looking through magazines is great.   Try visiting a book store and browse some magazines - it might give you some ideas and the lift you're looking for.

                                             hugs,

                                             Brenda

I look at, and for, art.  All kinds of art.  Fairy art, old masters art, architecture, dolls, bears, outsider art.  Kid art.

I look at art as well.  I also dabble in other things so if my bears stall I try other things.  Going to galleries and the library and other things seems to refill the well.

I think I spend my whole life thinking about bears...and if I am not thinking about it and talking about it I get easily bored..I pick ideas up from everywhere. I saw an old doll at my daughters the other day and now I am keen to try a new bear look because of seeing that...

I walk away from it.  If it becomes a struggle to work on bears, I simply walk away.....for a few hours, days and sometimes weeks......until the drive comes back to work.  Sometimes I feel like my bear battery just kind of dies and needs to be recharged with something else creative.  A lot of times just picking up an art filled magazine by Stampington & Company will ignite a spark under my behind.  Other times it takes going antiquing and finding that little something special that will be perfect for a bear that will set me back on track.

Right now my bear battery is fully charged.  Yet, I'm trying to find time to squeeze in bearsmithing.  If it's not one, it's the other......or so it seems with me of late.  I'm on a wicked see saw!!

Warmest bear hugs,

I've found that looking at all the stuff for sale on altered art websites stimulates ideas.  They also have galleries that have finished projects showing how and what to use.  One of my favorite places to drool is www.articusstudiodesign.com I have ordered tons of stuff from them and still covet more!!

Nature often inspires me ...there's something very creatively energising about the changing colours of the season.  I also love to research vintage and antique bears for inspiration.  I keep lots of books about bears, back catalogues of auctions .. that kind of thing.  Visiting different places will sometimes give me an idea too and like Jenny, I tend to eat, sleep and drink bear thoughts, so even if I'm having a conversation with someone about something completely unconnected, my mind is still always open to inspiration on another level!
