Is there a right way or wrong way to store mohair?
Obviously if folded and it sits for long periods or is at the bottom of a big pile it'll have creases that will have to be steamed out.
If it's hung should it be drapped over a hanger or should one use the hangers with the clips? And how do you keep dust off it if it's hanging out in your work room?
The mohair comes in rolls from the mill because that's how it's stored as it comes off the machine.... is this then the best way to keep it?
Suggestions? Experiences?
Big pieces I hang on clip hangers...small pieces are in a folded pile. I hang the faux fur if it's long pile...otherwise it's folded
I always roll my mohair as I can't stand any creases in it
I then store it in a plastic tub to keep it clean and free of dust

Mine's all folded in a trunk ... and on top of the trunk ... and on the box by the side of the trunk ... and in that box ...!!!
I've never found creasing a problem and as you say, if any of the pile ever lies not quite how I'd planned, there's always steaming, blow drying and styling!
My mohair is stored folded in huge trunks.. I think if I had the space I would hang it in a closet though.. it would be easier to see what you have instead of digging through trunks.. lol.

I used to roll mine and keep in plastic tubs... but then I'd always forget what I HAD!
Now I'm trying out in the open and folded - it IS much more inspiring.

I do find that I forget what I have got when it is all stored away but what a lovely surprise when I open the box-it feels like I have just bought it all over again

Mine is also folded... and I don't have a problem with the creases for the most part... usually I can work around them if there are any or steam them out.
But I have the craziest vision of hanging them all over my studio room walls..... mohair wall paper! Think how inspirational that would be. See a color you feel like using, pluck it off the wall!

OK, I'm nuts, I admit it!
Mine is folded in clear plastic tubs also.
LOL Daphne!!!! I believe you may have lost it....
It was bound to happen sooner or later.
But now I'm thinking my mohair stash is too precious for hanging on my walls!
I only have a very small mohair stash and I have it loosely folded length ways with the backing to the outside.

Mine is folded and in cupboards. I don't have much but it seems to be growing.
daphne I don't know about inspirational but I keep thinking you wouldn't get too much done as you would be stroking it or rubbing your face against the wall.
I can just imagine my partner and his horrified look when my stash does grow.
I'd love mohair wallpaper. And a mohair slipcover for my sofa. Maybe alpaca, the one inch thick stuff... <sigh>
I keep mine folded not that neatly in a cupboard thingie. I'd hang it if I had the space but that's at a premium as it is. When I take it out it takes me days to put it back; I just leave it on the bed, dreaming of what could be...
Oh Daphane you made my day, I just imagined you doing this  Wall paper would You! You are funnyyyyyyyy..... You make people day feel better.
I don't have any to put away. I buy half a yard or sometimes 1yd. I use it,so just fold what I have left on top of my table if any.
But I do have alot of scraps, and these I do not know what to do with them.
I try to keep it straight in the drawers but if it is large then I fold but I try only to have one fold, then there's not many creases. I keep buying and it's growing and my two mohair drawers are full, I have a couple of pieces now in with my jumpers and the last two I bought last week hubby found in with his jumpers, wonder how they got in there!!! Will have to have a good rearrange soon.

My mohair is usually hung in the closet on those pinchy top hangers. Right now, however, some of it is hanging over the back of my chair, strewn over the studio bed, in a stack on a set of hat boxes. You get the idea.....it's a wee bit of a mess.
Warmest bear hugs,

I hang my mohair on hangers with clothes pins which are then hung on one of those portable clothes stands. I was able to pay a visit to Intercal a few years back and all of their mohair and acrylic was hanging- truly mind boggling to see so much all in one place and even more difficult to choose what to purchase!!!!
