Dear friends,
After our visit in Shropshire, we went to Yorkshire and were welcome by the sun! Yepeeee!
As some of you may have remembered, we were invited at Pauline (Valewood Bears)'s home for the week-end.
We arrived at their home a little after 3:00 pm and were welcome by Alan, Pauline's hubby.
We went together to wait for Pauline at her job's place. She was very surprised to see us in the car as she did not expect us to be already arrived.
We had a lovely evening at Pauline's home, chatting.
The day after, we went to visit a part of the Yorkshire Dales. They first drove us to Bolton abbey. This is a very touristic area belonging to Wellington Duke.
You should see his "small cottages"!!!!
The abbey is located in a dream place, on a hill, with a nice river and some sheeps.
The abbey itself is partly destructed (not from the war, but by some Protestants, if I well understood ).
One part of the abbey is still okay and in use.
The sun did not leave us to our best relief.
On the left, the only part of the abbey undestructed. The rest is just ruin.
The "small cottage" on the front, the abbey behind.
Malko trying to cross the river (as the level of the river was high, he could not go far with getting his shoes wet, so he went back!
A view of the river taken from the road.
A beautiful cross found not far from the abbey.
After visiting the abbey in Bolton, we went to Skipton. We parked not too far from the town center. From the car park, we could see the river.
We went to the town center and stopped briefly to the teddy bear shop where Pauline had left bears for sale. She was amazed how expensive they were compared to the price the shop owner paid for them.
Than Alan and Pauline to us to the best Fish and Chips restaurant ever : Dizzie Lizies. Yummy yummy yummy. I want to come back again!
After lunch, we went to visit smalll villages in the surroundings. Here are a few pictures of the typical landscapes we could enjoy :
To finnish the afternoon, we stopped at Pauline's parents home (they live pretty closed to Alan and Pauline, in the same town).
Her parents are really lovely people.
Pauline's mom is very good at making special event cakes like wedding cakes. She taught Pauline how to make them. Pauline's mom is very good too at knitting and crochetting clothes for dolls.
Before leaving them, we had a play with karaoke piano. Pauline's parents were singing, Pauline was dancing... what a fun!
The last day, we had to leave in the early afternoon, so we just stay at their home, enjoying the sun and chatting.
Pauline and I played with our swap bears in the garden, taking some photos.
And it was too short : we all wanted to spend more time together, but I could not change the ferry boat tickets...
Maybe another time, later...
Thanks again, Pauline, for this unforgatable week-end we spent together.
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
PS: Sorry, I did not notice Pauline already posted some of the pictures.
What a treat . . . thanks so much again, Sophie! Loved your entire visit to England!
