look at us, chatting all over chloes lovely sloths !
cat xxx
i hope she wont mind terribly....but it is rather rude of me considering that ive not told her how much i love her sloths...their great chloe......really fantastic and you know i never realised there were still sloths about...silly me thought they were extinct :wacko...or are they??...now im all confused(doesnt take much tho )
Lol! What is this, an old wives convention?!? (or for that matter a young unmartried mans convention, whatever floateth your boateth ) Honestly, I leave you guys for ONE SECOND and look what happens! Clearly you can't be trusted :P
Gosh, I hope the sloths are ok... last I checked they were still around, Natasha Thing is, if anyone tries to shoot them in the forest they hang from the branch, even as a sloth corpse: hunters have to climb up and unhook 'em, so they're not worth the effort of pressuring to extinction!
Wow, that's an even more unusual hobby for a 19 year old than this is, Ellen; you make me feel normal Quirky girl... what kind of dogs? We have a Bearded Collie :)
I like your racoons just as much as your bears, Ellen, but your bears have such adorable faces! The problem for me, I think, is that it's easy for me to get away with a simple pattern and a felted face to add detail on the flat-faced sloths, but with bears... I'm trying my first felted face bear at the moment, but it looks a bit like a Womble at the minute XD Not bear like at all! i think I need to take some sewing and pattern design classes, so I can start making my own cute faces :)
I think it's a case of finding a balance between what we enjoy and what makes us money XD Hopefully I'll find out this weekend if there's any hope for them...
Some sense has been made!
I just saw the sloths at the Toronto Zoo - they are such interesting animals and you seem to have captured that look. good show!
Marion
Awww Ellen, a mini version?? I can't imagine such a thing, one the big size is sneaky enough, but a teeny Beardy? Imaging the compost-stealing power!
No one else at my University seems to have strange hobbies like this, just normal things like dance and music, and I do a lot of dancing whilst I'm there, but when I pulled out a sloths face during rehersals for something and started poking away, they all looked at me like I was mad! People kept coming over, saying 'Chloe... what ARE you doing?' like i was sat there plucking a squirrel or something
I've tried to hunt down a copy of the book Ellen, but it's so expensive... Let me look it up again but I might be taking you up on that! i think it's just the complexity of the planes of the face I don't get, as well as how much you can change with needlesculpting. I think I need to sit myself down and decide what i really want my bears to look like too!
Thanks so much for the offer  I may be sending you the postage, you never know!
EDIT: Oooh thanks Marion! I think I'd just missed your post... what a compliment! The one I saw in Berlin had it's face tucked up, so I couldn't see XD
Ellen, you are a star! Honestly, I am actually going to make you a gold star and post it to you I am sending you postage costs though, and I've PM-ed you.
I will definitely start with your tips. I'm working on a felty bear right now, but the snout is far too long... it looks like a Womble I'll see what I can come up with!
Ta!
Cute, cute cute!!!!
Gaby
Cute, cute cute!!!!
Gaby :rose:
Why, yes I am.
Thanks for the compliment!
ellen - can i ask you a cheeky question about that book you are ledning chloe?
hope you enjoyed miss marbles as we call her :-)

ps chloes so cute i was going to ask her if she would marry me - when shes 21 of course !
Lol, I'm sorry Cat, but you will have to take a ticket from my lovely supermarket style dispenser in order to join my marriage queue XD My over-whelming cuteness affects people far and wide you see!
My Sloths and I are happy to share the plinth of cuteness in harmony, just to add to our cute-osity  They have mostly prommised not to hurt anyone, but my latest, a biker boy called Boar, seems to think it may affect his 'tough guy' image...
*takes ticket, sees 3 figure number, sighs and goes back to bed ......
Oooh, three figures? I'm flattered, Cat!  I wish!
Everyone, I'll be posting a new Sloth face tonight probably, but he's another not-for-sale, so she is officially the first of her kind to go on sale! Cross your fingers for Naira!
(... I must remember to set it up early... I leave my temporary job on Friday so I doubt I'll have time after work to post auctions!)
http://raggyrat.blogspot.com/2007/09/slothful.html
you have been blogged !
cat xxxx
WOW, my first blog! I am honoured, your Blogginess! Thanks a lot!
Oooh, Cat... you know how you are a bid4bears supreme...
Well, do you know what I've done wrong that prevents my images coming up within the text in my auction? I'm doing well enough for me to be ecstatic at the moment anyway, but I'd like my listings to be snazzy so I thought I'd pick your brains... any idea?s
i havent tried putting images in with the test like that
try the round table bit in there, nancy and the other clever people are very helpful
and as for the blog, np

Chloe, your sloth's are amazing!!! I also think you are brave to tackle such a difficult critter....I honestly wouldn't know where to start with making a sloth! Bravo to you!
Thank you so much Gemma! Honestly, I'm working on a bear for the BBAA at the minute, and it is sooo much harder than designing a sloth: no one that I know of makes sloths, so I've got an advantage!
I feel so chuffed that Naira sold I would have been happy with my starting bid of £30, but in the end she sold for £70! I'm so happy! She's going to a lady in America, so I'm off to buy her a nice traveling box...
Chloe, are you coming to Hove this year? I'll be trading there and have 2 bears for the BBAA's...it'd be lovely to see you!
I don't know, Gemma, it depends on my transportation We don't have a car, so it's the train for me sadly... I need to get there if I get nominated though. Luckily I'm in with a relatively ok chance, as I can officially call myself a beginner XD Woohoo!
... really need to GNER that journey...
Let me know how you get on! I was the winner of the beginner category last year....I was absolutely over the moon!
whats hove and bbaa??
i have much to learn !
btw i bid on your sloth chloe - like i promised - and lifted the price a bit - but i didnt show up ???
ho hum !

Cat,
What we refer to as Hove is the British Bear Fair which is held in Hove (near Brighton) on December 9th. It incorporates the British Bear Artist Awards (BBAA). It's my closest show to me and I'm trading there this year and also have a few entries for the awards.
By the way, I LOVE your part of the country....I have many happy childhood memories of Dorset. We used to holiday in Swanage every year for about 10 years and would always visit Weymouth and Poole.....I'd love to go again at some point so I can show my boys all that I enjoyed as a child.
