I am sure that others who use Ebay for selling will have noticed these rather strange ID bidders that go something like this n***c and you can't get any bidding history up about them
Also if you run a check on the ID according to Ebay they do not exsist as it seems Ebay have removed them or they have been automatically generated and then removed by the person trying to disrupt the bidding, very strange! If Ebay had removed them then it is much a case of closing the stable door after the horse has bolted, the damage has already been done! Then there is all the email scams going on with false links - about time Ebay pulled their fingers out and sorted it all out especially this disruptive bidding, quite easily prevented!
Okay, that's my shout on the soap box for today

Well, I'm probably mistaken but my understanding of the new bdder IDs was that after the huge problems (intensely disliked!) that eBay instituted for auctions over $200 and Private bidding (no IDs revealed to the general public, just to sellers), eBay began to post the first & last initials of bidders, with asterisks between, to show them as a bit more personalized and not just an anonymous Bidder 1, Bidder 2, etc..
But Yes, Feedback numbers are given - here's a random one I just looked up under Bears, bidding is now about $225:

I rather like it! There is no one way to make every one happy, but I think they're trying.
Bobbie,
I like it too. If you are a person who constantly watches auctions, you can figure out who some of them are quite easily, even though you don't know the length of the name. It does keep unscrupulous scammers from hijacking customer lists etc, but shows some information. It's certainly better than the Bidder 1, Bidder 2 etc.
hugs,
Brenda
That's my understanding of it too...and I do think it's better than the old 'blind' system...but how long before the scammers crack the code ...mind you if they want to target the big spenders they can just look at the feedback history and get contacts that way...nothing is water tight is it!!
