Hi everybody!
My husband and I are thinking of moving away from the city, further out to the country.  The only internet service where we're looking is dial-up and I'm used to high speed internet.  Do any of you dial-up users have websites and/or blogs?  Do you have trouble uploading pictures?  Can you Blog with dial-up?  Pros/cons.....anyone?

Any input would be very much appreciated.  Thank you!

Warmest bear hugs,

Aleta have you thought of satellite internet?  We have cable, but the people before us had satellite.  Cable was just brought to our area a couple of years ago.

Thank you Laura and Denise!  Laura, I was just Googling internet service providers and satellite did come up.  I get the satellite from space concept and that would surely help living in the sticks.  Does anyone here have satellite service?

Back to Googling.......

I'm in the country and can only have dial-up. Even worse, due to the poor condition of our lines, my connection is extremely slow - about half of what it should be with dial-up. We tried for satellite but apparently we are in a 'dip' and don't have line-of-sight. Sigh.   Fortunately I work in town and have hi-speed there to do what I need to do. It would take hours to do what I can do in minutes here.

I had Dial-Up until last week and had no problem uploading photos, maintaining my websites, Blogs and chit-chatting with you guys.  It was slow but sure.

I just switched over to High Speed Internet through our cable line though and I have to say that I don't miss dial-up a bit!!!

If I were you, I'd go with someone like Hughes.net which is a Satellite High Speed Internet provider.

Good luck!

Hi Aleta. Finally able to respond to a very good question!

We live way out in the country and have only one option and one Internet Service Provider. Dial up is our way of life I hate to say. Having never had fast speed internet I truly do not know what I am missing but I can imagine!

We for many years have had basically no problem with dial up. I maintain my web site etc and have had no issues loading pics or anything else.

HOWEVER!!!!! since about 1 month ago we cannot access our web site, bank or much else. Some days better than others but for the most part it really sucks!

Our ISP provider blames our web host and visy versy!

I know it is a dial up problem. Unfortunately our ISP provider could care less.

Be aware that life is much different with dial up but it is possible!! Living in the country some how makes up for it!!

Hugs Louise
