I have been very busy lately but today for various reasons I visited and auction site, not ebay, but similar and found that someone has downloaded a pattern that I have for free on my website and is selling it on the auction site!!!

Boy some people have a hide!!!

Guess what is coming off my website!!

Oh that is awful but you could also approach said bad person and demand it's removal from the site.  I would also report them to the auction site.

I was going to but as we know these auction sites are a bit lax and if the "bad" person has the hide to do this they will hardly be fazed by an email from me. I mean ..........really.......well at least they attribute the pattern to me!!

But my back teeth are ground down to stubs from all the gashing I'm doing..............

Hmmm I think I know who it is and which site and the pattern.  I think I will make a complaint.  It isn't right and they shouldn't get away with it like that.

Tell them if they are going to sell your pattern they had better give you 80% of the sale.

Sandra,
This is blatant theft and I would absolutely report it to the auction site.  Tell them you can email a scan of the magazine pages to prove it's yours.  They often respond quickly, if they think an auction is fraudulent or could lead to problems for them.  It could also get this seller suspended   bear_thumb
Is there any way that in the future, you can print "NOT FOR SALE" on the pattern pieces, before you publish any other patterns.  That would stop this sort of thing.  That's just awful.

                                              hugs,

Bad luck Sandra, that must be really annoying to say the least. bear_angry  I hope you can get this resolved, perhaps you should give the auction site a go and report this rogue seller, they really should have some sort of system to stop people from ripping artists off.  Hopefully you'll be able to get the sale suspended and the seller barred.

Even if you get the seller banned, they will just create another email account than do it again.. bear_sad  trust me, i see some on yahoo tw of some artist, they sell the kit but im wondering if they asked permission from the artist. the kit cost less than 3x the kit selling in our school!  bear_angry

I guess its ok to use the pattern as practice but not to sell it. selling it is really low of them.. but with those people, they will get there karma one day. dont worry!

but im just wondering, lets say i use someone pattern, than sell the bear off at cost of material plus little labor, is that not allowed? because i dont have that much of a budget and space and after practicing, i rather sell it off so that i can buy more materials to make other bears for practice? because i dont want to step on anyone in that case...

Hi there,
It's usually okay to sell a bear, made from another artist's pattern, unless they state you can't do that.  Just make sure you give the artist credit for the pattern, when selling the bear.

                                           hugs,

                                           Brenda
