Fran, the most important thing is when you finish your OOAK you'll be proud of him and of yourself!!!

Once you start designing your own bears you never come back to kits.

Good luck and have fun!

Fran, you crack me up.  It might look like a monkey... you're right.  So then, you adjust it, and next time, it looks like a bear.  And so it goes.  We've all been there.  I still make mistakes with proportion; every new pattern is a "prototype", not a perfected piece.  Right, all?

You'll do great and I'm sure will feel prouder tha you imagine when you're done.  Can't wait to see the results of your efforts!

Enjoy the process!

Hey, no worries Fran...if it looks like a monkey you can name him Cheetah and a monkey collector will adopt him.  Many bear collectors also collect other animals. bear_smile

Best of luck.  There is nothing like the feeling of creating your very own designs. bear_innocent bear_thumb bear_innocent

All i want is a very pretty  bear so i can dress her up in the best dresses, i am trying to get a small snout thats all ,been looking for the right look for so long thats why i am having a go .The shading is the had part i will make a mess for sure ,Should you shade on the seam on top of the snout.

Honey, your dresses are tooo beautiful for a monkey----maybe even a bear, maybe even a doll- they need to be on real people.....on the other hand a real baby would just urp on them huh.....

OK i revise all of this- your dresses are to beautiful for a real baby, they need to be on a bear.......

Don't sweat the monkey thing.....just act like it was your original intention and we all promise not to tell

bear_happy Fran,

My original bears so far look like dogs until I needle-sculpt. They might still look like dogs, but by then I see bears!
