When it's a fracture! I've walked about on a fractured fibula for 3 weeks feeling really sorry for myself and thinking it was a bad sprain. After 3 weeks I couldn't take the pain..so I went to hospital ..and guess what...it's not a sprain...it's fractured.. in two places. So I am in plaster now and not looking forward to the prospect of Christmas shopping on crutches.
Thank heaven for the internet!!
Oh Jenny, Sounds so painful  You do hair too, right? Are you going to be able to work with a cast on?
Hope you get to feeling less pain soon...
Oh Jenny, I'm sorry that it's fractured - I hope you haven't done any more damage to it by hobbling on it!! I'm glad that it's been finally tended to properly - now maybe you can get waited on for a bit. Look sad and point to your plastered ankle Take care and hope it heals fast for you.
hugs,
Brenda
Thanks girls!! Roxanne..yes I am a hairdresser...and no I can't do it..even though we do it sitting down ( ooooh-er!!) I can't manage..at least fot a week or so...and I need the money!!!!AAAAAAGH...
I see more teddies on the horizon!!
Brenda...don't you worry...I am milking it for at least a couple of days!!! Peel me a grape!!
It is hardly surprising why it was so painful Jenny. At least you know you had good reason to complain  .Make sure you get everyone to take care of you and do as many of the household chores for you as the only thing I think that you are allowed to do with a fractured fibula is make bears
Laurie
Hi Jenny,
So sorry to hear that you have fractured your leg.
You deserve a rest.
But please keep up the good work with your gorgeous bears. :photo:
Just think you have an excuse at the present time to not have to take breaks all the time to sort out meals, housework,so you can spend more quality time with the bears.
Take care
Love kayx.
oh no!!! that must have hurt, walking around on a fractured leg!!!! oh well, I look forward to seeing all the bears you get done whilst stuck at home. I hope it gets better really soon.
Hi so sorry to hear that, the same thing happened to me about 3 yrs ago, I hurt my ankle and thought it was a bad sprain, only after about 2 weeks it was still killing me. It was also a fracture!
You just never know,
Hope you get to feeling better. Bless your heart for that to happen at the holiday time!
Ouch...take care Jenny.
Poor you, Jenny! Hope it gets less painful soon - and yes - you deserve/need to be waited on..........
And on a slightly brighter note - I found, years back when I was hobbling round on crutches, I lost a lot of weight - it takes a lot of effort and energy. Just think - NO post festive season diets for you!
big huggies
Maria
Thanks ladies...Maria...I hope you are right..the palm of my hand is numb from the crutches already!!
Ouchie, Jenny! Yep, I did the same as Tami, except I only waited about 5 days to go to the dr. and find out the ankle was broken. Surely is a good time to get waited on and make more bears, though. Big hugs!
Oooooooh Jenny......you don't do things by halves, you poor thing, no wonder it was so painful!! Well lots of pampering for you, get hubby and family to take good care of you!! Hope it soon feels much better
Just think of all those fab bears you are going to make...can't wait to see them....
Big hugs Yvonne
And here I'm sat thinking a guy would have wussed and complained and gotten it tended to much faster Good on you for getting that checked out, and getting the proper care. It'll heal much, much faster now you know its a fracture you're dealing with.
Yep, I see plenty of time, with your foot stuck up in the air, tending to teddies and being waited on hand and foot And I'll second that hobbling about for toning up a body!!! I was in the best shape, minus the foot, when I was on crutches. And its amazing how fast you can go on them once you've got the hang of it. Oooh, no going down stairs on them, though. Sit on your butt and scoot...its the only safe way when you're foots in a plaster
Oh Jenny, so sorry to hear that it is broken . Thankfully you finally got it checked ! I hope it feels better real soon. Hang in there.
Ouch! I am so sorry Jenny......that must be so painful. And to think you walked around with it for so long too!
(Goes to show how tough women really are, eh?
) I am glad you went to have it checked and are properly on the mend now. Take care of yourself......and try to milk it for more than a few days if you can. Can't waste such a golden opportunity!
Sending huge hugs your way:
Aw, I'm so sorry Jenny. That sounds entirely not holiday-cheer-y. I think you're on the right track with the milking it thing and I'd peel you some grapes myself but I fear they'd be raisins by the time they crossed the ocean and got to you. Can I send healing thoughts instead? I'm doing it, NOW.
As a woman full of medical curiosity, I have to ask, how did you manage this? I'm thinking, with my bit o' anotimical knowledge... the fibula is the front bone of the lower leg. So maybe, you bonked it hard on something? It's thinnest in the middle, so maybe somewhere there? Shelli: Medical Detective.
Feel better soon, hun!
Jenny,
I'm sorry to hear that you fractured your leg. Having recently used crutches I can sympathize. I hope your leg heals fast.
Hugs,
Well...I had just dropped my little grand-daughter at nursery and my daughter who likes to imagine herself living in one of the huge victorian houses in a street near where she lives insisted we walked past them...and the pavement was a bit wonky..and over I went...inverting my foot inwards in a very nasty position ..It hurt but i carried on walking..drove home and then went to my mothers..as I walked to her house I had a sharp pain which shot up the front of my shin..still carried on walking...hobbling by this time. Three weeks later believing it to be a sprain when the pain....like the worst kind of toothache..was so bad I was taking pain-killers all day..I thought I ought to go to my GP...who said..'Off to hospital with you...that's more than likely broken'
The consultant says he can't believe I stood the pain for 3 weeks....but I now have a 'Beckham boot' which I can remove for baths and showers and I can take it off in the evenings and to sleep...I am delighted as I envisaged an uncomfortable 6 weeks ahead..and as it's a weight bearing boot..I can walk on it almost normally!!!
sounds painful any way you put it!
Here are the lyrics to the the song you'll need:

Thanks Marion, sounds just the one!!!
OHH Jenny that sounds so painful for you. take it easy girl and make the most of it, let everyone wait on you for a time.
Poor you Jenny - You have all my sympathy for such a painful time you have had. You must be a really tough little cookie to stand all that pain for three weeks, my goodness me. I do hope it starts to heal now and you will be dashing about again soon - upright this time!!!!
Jenny I can't believe I missed this one. Poor you, it must have been sooo painful for you. Take time to make bears whilst you heal, I'm sure you'll come up with some fab creations. I hope you soon feel well again. I'll be coming up to Coventry next month, if everythings ok I'll pop in and say hi.
Healing hugs Jane.
Oh dear! Jenny sounds so painful. Sorry to hear that you have fractured your leg.
Enjoy the time making your bears and I hope that it won't be too long before you are walking without crutches.
Hugs
Carolyn
