Back Road BearsThat's right..... I'm in need of NEEDLE FELTING ARTISTS to participate in the 2008 Teddy Bear Shows I'm producing in
New England!
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the mohair/plush artists with all my heart BUT... variety is key and needlefelting is a growing art within the teddy bear industry as well as the doll industry and beyond. Our collectors deserve to see something new and different, refreshing and intriguing.
I encourage you, as talented NFing artists, to consider participating in one of my shows. (Or both!!) I've contacted a number of NFing supply vendors about coming with their wool, needles, kits, etc. and I hope to encourage at least one of the needlefelting artists to do a demo at the show. The demos, which go on during show hours at a designated booth, are always well attended by fellow artists and collectors alike and give you the chance to teach others, show off your talent and promote your business!

I'm not sure I'll be up to full speed in 6 months so I cannot make any commitments for 08, but 09 is definitely on my Calendar! I'm sure you'll get one of us Specialists!
In fact, spacing us out in different years is a great idea - as we all use different skills & teaching techniques and methods.
Laura & I could be traveling together out of O'Hare most likely, so I'll just see what develops and keep my options open???
Back Road BearsAh, the more the merrier! As far as doing demonstrations.... one NFing demo per show is enough. But each show has it's own group of collectors.... and it's own 'personality' if you will..... both shows will benefit greatly from having some NFing artists there. Kelly Graham was at the Maine show this year and did a fantastic demo and I sold out of NFing kits just as soon as her demo was done! Attendees were really excited about trying it as Kelly made it look so easy! They'll be looking for more needlefelting creations in '08 I'm sure!
And yes... there is always '09!

If I could work out a trip back east in July to see my Mom in upstate NY & convince here to go to Maine with me...hmmm still time to work on it right??? How far is Wells Beach from Cundy's Harbor, Maine? We have family there.

Back Road BearsOh, yes, the Harpswell area! The show is about 1 1/4 hours south... could take a bit longer with summer traffic.
There is indeed still time to decide! Early app. deadline for $20 registration fee discount is December 31 but final deadline is May 1.
