Okay, you guys know that I'm sort of slow when it comes to noticing things so if someone already brought this up - just ignore me!  I was looking for my Entry Form which came last week but I successfully lost so I could look up some information to pass on to someone else.  Then, I decided in a stroke of brilliance to just go to their website because I know sometimes they have the forms online to download.  And it was when I was searching for the forms online that I found that you can enter the contest ONLINE this year!  Now I usually don't enter the Golden Teddy because it falls so close to Christmas that I'm really swamped with holiday stuff but I'm thinking about it because they just made it a little bit easier for me by putting it ONLINE!!!  How cool is that???  Has anyone tried it?  Here's the link:

If you've done this already, please respond to this and let us know if it's easy or not.  I might just have to make something to enter (I also usually do NO BEARS during the month of December - just a tradition).

Oh, and, AND, it's cheaper!  They give you a discount for doing the whole thing ONLINE!  Totally FABULOUS!

Thanks in advance,
Lisa

Already have bear_original It's not too bad actually, you buy the entry fee, register, log in, and you can fill out a quota of paid for forms... It's $50 online.  You enter photos as digital images with a size limit bear_original

Wow, I think it's great.  Making it easier to enter by having the Entry process online and making it cheaper to enter online may actually give me the nudge I need to enter this year.  Also, my printer died yesterday (along with my scanner last week) so I don't have any way to print my photos out.  The last time I entered a contest (the TITAs in 2006), I had Ritz do my photos the first time and they were HORRID.  I ended up printing them at home and it's sad to say but a 6 year old printer did a better job!

So to my next question, if you don't enter these things online and don't have a printer, who else prints good photos?  I know the TOBYs are also coming up after the holidays and if I get my act together and enter this contest, I may enter that one too.

Hugs,
Lisa

Do you have to be there in person for the awards like the BBAA's?

I not sure of the rules for this competition?

I have entered online .. well kind of.  I think I must have tried to enter when it very first went live online because I thought it was such a handy way of taking part, but unfortunately I had a devil of a job.  Hopefully they have discovered what was causing the problem and ironed out the gremlins now.

The problem I experienced was that after completing every aspect of the proceedure for online entry and being taken to a confirmation page, I then waited to receive a confirmation email to know for sure my pics etc had arrived at their destination and ... nothing.  So I contacted Jones Publishing, just for my own peace of mind and nope, they hadn't received any information from me.  In fact, (I almost forgot), I tried twice ... the first time I received a 'mailer-daemon' failure notice, which was why I tried again.

Fortunately, the guy at Jones Publishing was really helpful.  He contacted me very quickly and eventually, after retrying unsuccessfully a third time, I sent him the info by email and he entered it manually his end.  My worry about the proceedure was that after my second time of trying when I was actually taken to a confirmation page, my entry still hadn't registered ... this may have meant I assumed everything was okay, my card payment was debited and yet my competition details weren't processed and I was left in ignorance of that fact.

I know that other UK entrants have submitted entries successfully, so it may have been an AOL problem.

My message to anyone using the online submission is to make sure you check carefully for confirmation of your submission.

I'm sure it was just teething problems with the implementation of a new system and I was just a bit unlucky, so it's good to hear the rest of you have managed to take part without any difficulty.

Good luck with the competition everyone, by the way!

Shelley, try www.jonespublishing.com and click on the 'Teddy Bear Review' link to find the 'Golden Teddy Award' competition details.  It's a photo submission competition, so no need to send your actual submitted work for judging.

Shelly,
You don't have to be here in person (nor does your nominated creation have to be here in person) but it sure would be nice!  I've attended the Banquet a couple of years in a row to cheer on my friends and the embarrassing thing is that we bear artists have a tendency not to show up to claim our award!  I think Joe Jones even joked once that he thought we bear artists must be in "hibernation."  So please, if you are nominated, try at least to show up so I have someone to root for (and I'm not sitting alone at a dinner table like a dork  ).

P.S. Yes, I know as a mom of toddlers and an owner of pets that it is really hard to make arrangements so please don't feel like I'm scolding anyone for not showing up.  I am there so I know how hard it is to juggle schedules, etc., and make everything turn out just right!

Hugs,
Lisa
