This is a baby Francois Langur monkey. The babies will only keep their bright ginger fur for up to six months before it turns glossy black like the parents fur. The baby's bright typical orange baby coat helps it's mother keep a close eye on it,which is in stark contrast against the black of it's parent's fur. This distinctive colour means it is more visible and easy to nurture and it also means the youngster can be easily spotted when it starts to venture.They are mainly leaf-eating monkeys are highly endangered in the wild with fewer than 2,500 of them remaining.
Francois monkeys are native to northeast Vietnam, southeastern China and west-central Laos, where they inhabit tall riverside crags in tropical monsoon forest in limestone mountains.
They subsist mainly on leaves, both young and mature. Fruit, buds, flowers, seeds, stems and bark provide supplements. They drink very little water.

Methinks some of the inspiration for the tellytubbies may have come from a francois langur monkey!! But the monkey is so cute and endearing unlike the dreaded tellytubby.
