Hello, I wanted to show you what we have been doing. We seem to be making a lot of progress with promoting artist bears at local craft fairs, this one which we did on Saturday was the forth one since the beginning of November and was an Edwardian craft fair this time and we had to dress up. This one had extra promotion, as because it was Edwardian and the first one for the village, two different press crew came up from local newspapers and seemed to be drawn to our stand, both took pictures so will post them on here if we can when they are printed but we took a few and here is one, a picture of Charlotte as an Edwardian maid behind our stand.
We are having such fun… we don’t expect to sell much there (people are just expecting to spend a few pounds here and there at such venues) but we do keep selling a few of the smaller cheaper bears. What we do is go armed with leaflets on what an artist bear is (an idea from Laura Lynn) and magazines together with our business cards and just talk about it to people all day and get people to at least hold one of the bears even if they don’t buy. We also take along a few bears in progress to show people and it does draw more people as they realise then when they see us sewing that we have made the bears.
The villagers made is really nice and Christmasy, there was a choir singing carols in the foyer and Santa came in at some point in the day for the children, the hall was decorated all Chrismasy and mince pies were given out, there was a cafe set up for the day also serving bacon sandwiges in the morning and light lunches in the afternoon.
What has happened also is that we have had a few orders later (when people have looked at the website and saved up!!) I am going to continue with them next year, in between my usual bear fairs, it is good fun and we met some lovely people too.
Warm wishes
Pauline

Oh that sounds so lovely Pauline, and your table looks fab!! Did you dress up too? Wish Christmas was still a bit like the old days.
Claire: Yes I did dress up very similar to Charlotte but the one with me on was so dark you couldn't see it, this seemed to be the best one. I wish Christmas was a bit like the olden days too Claire.
Pauline
