Touchdown in Phuket and we're whisked away to Patong Beach for a week of lazing around & shopping. Our hotel is located close to everything and across the road from the beach (Club Andaman if anyone's interested). Here's a pic of the view from our room overlooking the pools & landscaped gardens.
As we were mostly visiting friends, we only went on one day trip by boat to Krabi (mainland of Thailand - Phuket is an island) for a day of swimming and snorkelling - just breathtaking as you can see ....
Last year I bought one of those Olympus shockproof/waterproof cameras - here's a sample of my not so great photography while snorkelling with the local fish!
A moment of reflection as we walk 150m inland from the beach to where some longboats were washed during the 2004 Tsunami.
Our Thai friends also took us on a longboat ride across to a floating seafood restaurant not usually frequented by tourists - very interesting ... our dinner was swimming in nets around the restaurant and you could pick which fish or prawn you wanted (or catch your own!) Mmmmmm ... puffer fish anyone???
Well, unfortunately as most holidays do, ours ended much too quickly and it was 'back to the daily grind'!
Hope you enjoyed our happy snaps - thanks for looking.
Marg
Wow Marg, what a beautiful place to vacation!! I was very interested in your underwater picture with your Olympus camera. I just got my husband one for Christmas, he is a big outdoorsman and I decided that was a camera that would work for him.

Hi Marg, we went to phuket and we stayed at club Andaman a few years back and the people were so friendly and inviting, I remember when we arrived at the resort they give you this green drink and it was so refreshing that I have always wondered what it was made of..we did ask.....did you see any of the dogs with make up on will have to get out the pic it was something to do with the spirit of the dog.....we just love phuket

Thanks so much for sharing these photos with us. I so enjoyed looking at all of them. They are wonderful and they help me to realise what a vast world it is out there.
Bear hugs, Cathie
Marg , I enjoyed your pictures very much. It sounds and looks like you had a wonderful time.
And you already answered my question about the tsunami. It's very mice to see that the people and landscape has recovered.
Thanks for the posts.
OMGosh - looking at your wonderful pix! I miss scuba! (OF course , my wet suit no longer fits) and I'm not physically strong enough to do it any more, but thx for bringing back the memories!
