Hi all!

I know we've discussed it before - our new bear mailing lists -- do you just send emails, do you use a paid service and if so which one?

I tried out a couple and posted my own results on my Free patterns Blog.  I thought to save board space I'd just post a link for anyone who may be interested...

Hi Jenny,
I have just googled their website - the price is listed in GBP, so, are they a British outfit? is the software easy to use?  'Cos I am suddenly VERY interested since we got stitched up by Orange!!!! bear_angry

This is a warning to any Brits out there tempted to change your server to Orange - DON'T!!!!  We thought they would be way cheaper than BT and we have always had good service from them with our mobiles, but we have found that their web services are incredibly limited:  I have had no end of problems sending an e-mail to my mailing list because it turns out that Orange will only allow you to send an e-mail to a maximum of 20 recipients at a time - with is a bit pathetic.  Even worse, they have blocked our access to the smtp service we pay for, so we cannot get around their low limit.  They have admitted that there is nothing in their terms and conditions about this and they can give us no explanation why they have a block on all smtp sites except their own - aaaargh!!!!  My husband has now found a website dedicated to complaints about Orange... sheesh, I wish he had found it before we signed up for an 18 month agreement!!

Oh Chris I am so sorry to hear about how horrible Orange is!  Seems to me if they can't keep up THEIR end of the agreement (ie: providing GOOD service) that they shouldn't be able to keep you to your end (18 months)  bear_angry

Hi Chris...I think they may well be an Irish company...but they are very good. Not the cheapest...but it's reliable EASY ..and I am very satisfied with it. I was using email to send mine and when I got up to sending out a whole list of emails it would not handle it ie..plus the fact that it took ages!!
My brother had a terrible time with Orange and he broke the contract and they let him in the end because he had such a bad experience ie they didn't fulfill the contract ...I used to be with BT...nuff said!! I am with Sky now...never looked back!! It's fast, easy and I can't remember a time when I couldn't get online ..which happened about twice a day with BT!!!

Thanks Jenny - that's really helpful! bear_flower
My husband downloaded the free version last night so we could have a play with it and it certainly seems to offer s what we are looking for.  The paid for version IS more expensive that some others we have looked at, but, like you say, it seems to be really easy to use and would give us options for customizing and personalizing bulk mailouts.
There is a lot of bad feeling about Orange!  I am really disappointed as we have never had a problem with their mobile contract.  But, at least we are finally out of BT's clutches - NOTHING is as bad as that!! bear_grin
Thanks again,
Chris
