Oh my gosh.... No it wasn't a dog, it was me!!! We fell out with each other. I had him all ready for a show on Saturday and the more we looked at each other the more we hated each other. All of a sudden I chopped his face off in a temper, it wasn't like any of my usual faces, I didn't think he was cute, he was cocky and I hated him. Now I am in shock and hubby can't believe it as he liked him!!
Now I may have to unpick the body and take off the head and do another one (I have a bit of fur left) but I don't have time before the fair now. I was wondering though, I couldn't needle felt onto that big hole with stuffing sticking out.... could I???? Any other ideas appreciated.

mjbearsthe only thing i would recomend bar not doing that again lol... is maybe you could take some stuffing out the front of nose sew the hole up would make him have more of a flatter pointy nose though but you could then needle sculpt it and then add a clay moulded nose to hide your stitches thats my only guess he looks cute to me anyway take care pauline melissa
by the way i have a prob i made a lovely bear from pink mohair and never sold as i stupidly added this tremendous pink nose i have to unstitch it all today and hope for the best if its ruined i then like you may have to do another head fingers crossed melissa

I don't think you'd have much luck with needle felting across that gaping hole - sadly, you might just have to make a new head........but LATER, when you have thoroughly enjoyed the show!

can't imagine he's wee face was so offensive .............. and my what a reaction from the mild mannered Pauline 
However, I must admit that the bear I'm doing at the mo (yes its paulas head challenge that I started last year :redface: ) I have had to do the nose three times and had to be pretty rough at removing the nose thread. Oh well I'm happy with the face now, only problem is I made the body too small and I will have to make another body (well I would have been suprised if my first pattern did come together first time! 
)
Sorry I can't help with needlefelting advice and even more sorry that I will be missing Leeds fair this weekend (hubbys working and it wouldn't be fair to drag my youngest round). Hope you have a great fair, take a piccie of your table please, I'm feeling really peeved not to go.

Pearl Button BearsOh Pauline.... I think you need to put him in a cupboard for a while... then make a new head one that you don't hate! It could have been a blessing ... if you felt such hate who knows he could have been a danger if unleashed on the public... only kidding... he did look cute but maybe start a fresh will bring you more happiness. As a fellow work destroyer ( must keep that temper in check 
) I understand.

I have been known to chop my bears to pieces much to hubbys dismay
I can't give you any repair advice as I think he has been chopped that bit too much but next time I would put a bear to one side if you are not happy with it and go back to it when you are in a better frame of mind and if you still hate what you see or you can't get him looking how you want then decide if he is for the bin.That is what I tend to do because sometimes it is easier to see what it is that you don't like about a bear after not looking at him for a few days and by that time you usually know for certain whether he is going to be turned into something you don't like or if it was you having a bad day

Donna's Duin BruinsI think I would add an inset muzzle out of different fabric, maybe a solid color to match one of the colors in the fabric. Or add a patch to cover the hole and then start needlefelting. If you have some fimo, cernet or sculpty you could sculpt a nose and open mouth for him. But only try to work on him, if you are over your frustration with him.

Waggle BearsPauline: I would suggest anger management classes immediately! I think he looks rather cute and can't imagine he looked so bad at to go after him with a knife or scissors. When I am not happy with a bear, I just put it aside for a while. I have redone a few heads, but never resorted to such mayhem. Perhaps you need a cooling off period before you try to work on this guy again.
I did have to laugh, though, at your discription of the two of you looking each other and the hate developing between you. It must have been frightening.

Oh Pauline, I am sorry but LOL here as I have had a bear that I did not like but I did not go to that extrem. What I did was need felted the face. She ended up bring in the most money that I got for a bear. So some times good things can come from our mistakes. You could needle felt the face if you close it up or add a piece of fabric to close the opening I would think. Judie would be the one to ask about needle felting. Or make a new head.

Bears by EdiePauline, if you have never tried doing a needlefelted muzzle then I think this is your big opportunity! Just take out a bit of the stuffing and pull the fabric edges together a bit to make the hole smaller and then needlefelt a new muzzle. If it doesn't work or you aren't happy with the results then you still have the option of making a new head. Donna's idea of making a new muzzle out of a co-ordinating fabric also sounds good. I think what's left of him looks really cute! :crackup:
Ruby Mountain BearsI think this is an oppotunity to experiment!!! Try the epoxie sculpt , try the needle felting, what ever challenge you decide you really want to try maybe that inset muzzle idea, just don't hurt the poor fellow any more. He can't help the way he looks, 
after all he is your handiwork!! :crackup: :crackup: How could you . Okay I have to confess I actually ripped a bears eyes out before, just could not stand the look. It turned out to be a really cute bear with new eyes but ouch.
So just give him a new look, if it doesn't work out maybe you'll have learned a new technique!!!

Lakeland TeddiesPauline, I think you should have left him as is. Sometimes what you think is awful, other people just love. That has been my experience anyway. Many times, I have posted a bear that I thought was hideous and it sold. Collectors are always looking for something different. Sorry, I'm not any help on how to fix him as I'm not experienced enough.

Hello, I just got back from my afternoon job, had tea and seen your replies. Oh you are all so lovely :hug: :hug: :hug: and what inspiring ideas you all have, thank you so much. It was nice to hear all your little gone wrong tales too, makes me feel so much better. I enjoyed reading these.
I feel a bit guilty now but I still don't like him, I just feel guilty cos I don't feel sorry for him. He is now in the cupboard until after the fair, then I am going to take your advice and experiment. I may sew a piece of fabric over the hole and try needle felting..... I have nothing to lose and if this fails (which it probably will) I will open the body and put a lovely new head on with a cuter face.

I know it wouldn't have been funny when it happened but I am sure you will get a laugh out of this later. I agree with Donna either a diffrent coloured muzzle or try you hand at needlefelting cover the hole and go for it. But do leave it until after your show.

I have another show on Sunday in Wales and then I really will start work on this fellow. That just cracked me up! I had the same experience not to long ago. I had to go to the "misfit" box and find this head that I was trying different techniques on. First I stitched the nose, did not like it, then I needle felted over it, hated it! Took the ol' sissors and cut it all off

You know, I knew I wasn't the only one who did this, I feel a whole lot better now :crackup: :crackup: AND you have a misfit box..... oh how many more have you in there (only joking). Lets give them both new noses when we can and take fresh pictures. Though I think I may do the same as you and needle felt and who knows it might get cut off a second time :crackup: :crackup:
