Back Road BearsI have now survived my 4th show as a promoter!! I'm wondering when it gets easy! LOL!!
I truly LOVE the whole process and the support the artists and collectors give is just amazing. They make all the work completely worth it.
A snow storm the day before the show prevented a few artists from attending. Others flew or drove through it like pros. Sharon Barron came from Southern California and was so excited to see that white stuff!
I had wonderful ladies (and my hubby) helping with the show this year. One of them took photos for me. Here they are:
The Gallery featured exclusive, one of a kind pieces made by artists just for the show. The submission fees for each piece were donated to a local children's charity. The Gallery was set up in the lobby and opened early to collectors.

That's it. I'm hoping others who were there will post pictures too!!!! I know we missed one of Steven (Bear Guys) for instance! Sorry, Steven!
Now to go work on plans for the Maine show! :dance:

Waggle BearsLove the pictures. Looks like you had a full room even without some artist not being able to get through because of weather. I also see some of your dad's beautiful bags. I bet he was very proud of his work. Was he feeling like attending with you?

Thanks for all the lovely pictures! It's nice to see pics of old friends and acquaintances, like Marie Poole and especially Fred Slayter. When I was finishing up with shows, Fred had had a serious heart problem and I wasn't sure he would be able to come back. It's great to see him healthy. I do miss socializing at the shows.
Your show looks amazing - obviously a lot of work went into another great show. Congratulations!

BEAUTIFUL venue, Daphne; you put on such a pretty, light and airy show. I'm so glad it was hard work AND a fun, successful event. Everyone looks like they had a great time.

Hearts Ease BearsIt was a lovely well run show as usual! Daphne doesnt miss a trick! everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and i even survived my
stage fright about doing my demo! Stunning creations in the gallery and on the showroom floor! was wonderful that so many talented artists took the time to show us their techniques! Jackie and Kellley and Fred were all wonderful to watch! Sandi Rexford went hi tech on us with a slide show digital frame in her booth! Fun way to see her bear portfolio! and there was all that delicious mohair Peter brought! if you havent checked out one of Daphnes show you gotta go to Maine! deb
Little Bear GuyWell Daphne I"m sure Steve was off somewhere talking someone's ear off. He had nothing but high praises for your show , loved the venue and he loved the hotel (apparently the beds are out of this world). Hopefully I'll make it to the one next yr . Thanks for the pics, at least I got to see the show through the pics.

Sandi's idea with the digital photo frame is fantastic! Henry has suggested over and over that I do that with my laptop.... just one more thing to have to plug in, program.... forget it! But that photo frame was perfect!!!! And...... I heard from her this morning... someone saw a photo in her framed slide show of a bear they really like and kept thinking about it so contacted her after the show to order one!! Congrats, Sandi!!
Marlys, Dad was hoping to attend but just wasn't up to the long drive and having to be up and socializing for hours. We were very disappointed but so many asked for him and drooled over his felted knit bags!! He was there in my heart for sure!!
Brenda, Yup, Fred is back to doing shows and his unique humor and wity words make him so much fun to have around! Marie Poole is such a wonderful lady and asset to the bear community! Her support for my shows has been undying and greatly appreciated. I'm doing a signing at one of her shops at the end of April. I'm very excited!
Shel, "Pretty, light and airy" is exactly what I look for in a venue! Creates such a great atmosphere for a show!

Back Road BearsSteve talking? Never!! :crackup: Next year's show will be at the end of April.... less chance of snow then so I do hope you come!!! I hope Steve didn't get a complex because everyone was asking for you like his presence wasn't enough!! We're just not used to seeing one of you without the other! I know you guys have a very full schedule right now and I'm so glad he made the time to come!
PS If you look at the picture of Vicki Stephan (Raspbearies) and look just over HER left shoulder you'll see Steven and just under the letter "V" is Barbara Burke in a turquoise top! They really were there!!!

Canna Bear PaintWe had a lovely time at the show as well (and were pleased with our sales, which is always nice to be able to say)! Had much fun chatting away with Ellen throughout the day, as she was just across from us. I asked about you too, Shane, LOL. It was a matter of looking at your table and thinking "hmmm, something is missing... no wait, someONE is missing..."

I agree with you, beautiful, light and airy is the way to go with a teddy bear show I can't say how disappointing it is to see lovely bears relegated to the grungy armoury buildings. A bit hard to believe you're buying upscale art in such surroundings

Daphne how courageous of you to go ahead with this show after all the heart ache you have had in the past months, but what an achievement. Well done to you and of course hubby who was in the background.

With all the problems that you have had I find it amazing that you still managed to arrange and run such a wonderful show. I would have loved to have been there to see the bears in the fur and to have snapped lots of pictures with my dreded camera. Even better would to have been there with my own bears, now that would be fantastic.
