Hi Everyone, well my animals decided to cause me a delay in listing my latest creation yesterday, but it appears that that is the least of my worries. Instead of getting my bear cub ready for auction yesterday I spent the day cleaning!
To make a long story short, the cats thought it would be fun to give one of my dogs a blue pen as a chew toy, she proceeded to chew it up, all over her feet, my white furniture, the tile, and worst of all the carpet (which is dark brown walnut). As I tried to clean her feet she ran away thus tracking even more pen. The good news is, I managed to get it off of her, the tile and amazingly enough of off of the furniture (fantastic with bleach on the furniture and tile, but can't use it on the dark carpet) my dilema is now no matter what we do we can't get the ink out of the dark carpet, it has been soaked with oxy clean, enzyme cleaner, regular fantastic, and steam cleaned, but with everything as it dries it keeps coming back!!! Any suggestions anyone that will get ink out of dark carpet without changing the color of the carpet?
Hugs,
Krista
I've heard ( not tried myself) that rubbing alcohol works. Worth a try, test it on a hidden spot first though.
What a mess- Yikes, but amazing you got it off everything else.
Good luck !
I haven't tried this on carpet so you might want to try it first in an area like a closet to see what it does to the carpet first. I've gotten ink on clothes before and put a bit a hairspray on the spot (I used the kind from a pump bottle) and gently blotted...not rubbed...the spot until the ink came out. I then just washed the article of clothing like normal. I'm not sure this will work for you since you've already used other products on the spots...sometime they will just set the stain.
Good Luck!
Krista,
There is a product called Goof Off 2, comes in a spray bottle, that will take the pen out. I don't know if you can buy it in Canada or not. Here is a link to the website hopefully you can put in your postal code and find out where to buy it: http://www.valsparglobal.com/val/resident/goof-off.jsp I would also test it in a closet or an inconspicuous corner to make sure it doesn't take out the coloring of the carpet.
Hugs,
OH Wow!!! Thank you so much for your suggestions! I will give some of them a try! Tammy I don't have rubbing alcohol, but I do have airbrush cleaner, might give that a try.
keep the suggestions coming though just in case.
hugs,
Krista
I was sure somewhere I heard that toothpaste would take pen out. I"ve never tried it myself but it can't hurt.
hugs and good luck
Shane
Sorry about the ink, but you can get Goof 2 in most Home Depot or Lowes stores if there is one in your area. But always try on a hidden spot fiist to see if it works.
I am afraid that all the products you have tried so far has set the stain.
Good Luck
My best luck with ink is hairspray as well, and I've always used the aerosol kind. I use it to get the ink out the hubby's dress shirt pocket's from work - he always carries pens and ends up with stained pockets. I wish you had tried it first though, Krista - don't know if it will work after all the other treatments.
hugs,
Brenda
Hi Everyone, thank you so much for your tips, unfortunatley the stains have set and we can not get them out! the good news is it looks like I will be getting my new hardwood floors sooner than I thought!
hugs,
Krista
Hi Krista . . . I'm not kidding, this stuff will work.
I just got old grease spots off of my daughter's carpet with stuff called Spot Shot. I comes in an aerosol spray can and I got it at Target.
I used it when my other daughter was moving and we were cleaning the home. It got spots off of the carpet I thought would never come out.
I'm not kidding, just spray it on and dab it with a cloth. That's it, the spot is gone. I know I sound like a commercial, but this stuff works.
Be sure to test it on your carpet first to make sure it won't change the color.
I hope you get some, I'll be watching to see if your ink stains come out.
Spot Shot, I think thats what it's called. It is an aresol that is sold with the carpet cleaners. Takes out everything
